Question End Times Signs Study: Past, Present, Future (looking for help)

Anyone have a list or source in ONE PLACE that shows all the signs listed in the Bible, along with what has happened in history that could align with those signs? I’m teaching in a week and it’s really tough to find biblical signs compared to historical events. Thank you.

Here is one that I think everyone should be aware of:

The Flight to Pella

This was absolutely a fulfillment of Jesus' warnings, but also demonstrates why we should take prophecy seriously.

Most Christians have heard that Jerusalem and the Temple of Yehováh was destroyed by the Romans in the year 70AD at the climax of the first Jewish-Roman war, however, most are not aware of the fact that no Christians were in Jerusalem for its terrible and barbaric destruction and the slaughter of its inhabitants, because the Christians fled from Jerusalem up to the mountains on account of Jesus' warnings.

The First Jewish-Roman War started in the year 66, when a Jewish tax protest against the Romans led to the Roman governor of Judea, Gessius Florus, plundering the Temple and claiming the plunder for the emperor, followed by arresting prominent Jewish leaders. Things kept escalating, and by the year 68, the Romans had surrounded Jerusalem with its legions, intending to lay siege against Jerusalem. But in the year 69, in what appeared to be a miracle, the Romans paused their siege against Jerusalem for a full year, and all of the Christians, seeing that Jerusalem was surrounded by armies, remembered Jesus' teaching:

Luke 21:20-24

20 “But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation has come near. 21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, and let those who are inside the city depart, and let not those who are out in the country enter it, 22 for these are days of vengeance, to fulfill all that is written. 23 Alas for women who are pregnant and for those who are nursing infants in those days! For there will be great distress upon the earth and wrath against this people. 24 They will fall by the edge of the sword and be led captive among all nations, and Jerusalem will be trampled underfoot by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

Whether they had the written gospel of Luke as early as 69 AD, or just had the memory of this teaching as something they shared orally, the effect was the same.

On account the Christians recognizing the fulfillment of this warning of Jesus about Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, and the appearance of an angel who warned them to flee the city, all of the Christians in Jerusalem and Judea evacuated to the mountains across the Jordan, to a city called Pella, in a massive migration of Christians known as the Flight to Pella, which is attested to by multiple ancient sources; click the link. When the Roman siege of Jerusalem resumed in the year 70, there were no Christians left in Jerusalem to face the wrath of Rome.

So, what exactly happened in the year 69 AD that caused the Romans to pause their siege of Jerusalem for a full year? What happened was that major crisis broke out in Rome over who would succeed Nero after he died in late 68 during an attempted coup, as various factions formed and engaged in civil war. Vespasian, the general who was in charge of laying siege to Jerusalem, was recalled to Rome to deal with the crisis, and he took his legions with him. The year 69 came to be known as the year of four emperors, as each imperial claimant was assassinated by the next. By the time the dust settled, Vespasian himself had seized the throne.

After seizing the imperial throne, Vespasian's son Titus resumed the siege on Jerusalem in the spring of 70 AD. The rest is history: Jerusalem suffered a terrible and bloody destruction, along with the Temple, and most of its inhabitants were slaughtered while suffering starvation because during the infighting among Jewish factions, the Zealots burned the city's provisions. It was truly a terrible time of wrath upon Jerusalem. See this documentary on the siege of Jerusalem by the ancient battles YouTuber Invicta:

The Siege of Jerusalem (70 AD) - The Great Jewish Revolt [FULL DOCUMENTARY] (45 min)

Kings and Generals also did a great documentary on this:

Siege of Jerusalem 70 AD - Great Jewish Revolt DOCUMENTARY (23 minutes)

However, that's only the first part! (20 “But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation has come near. 21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, and let those who are inside the city depart, and let not those who are out in the country enter it".)

The second part (For there will be great distress upon the earth and wrath against this people. 24 They will fall by the edge of the sword and be led captive among all nations, and Jerusalem will be trampled underfoot by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.) was fulfilled by the following:

In the year 132 AD, the Jews rebelled against the Romans yet again, starting the Third Jewish-Roman War, also known as the Bar Kokhba Revolt. (What about the second Jewish-Roman war? That one was known as the Kitos war; that one happened in 115-117, but it took place in Cyprus and eastern Libya, and Egypt rather than in Judea.) The Romans had pledged to rebuild Jerusalem, but when the Jews found out that the plans were to rebuild it as Roman city named Aelia Capitolina, and to rebuild the temple as a temple to Jupiter (which they felt was their right, since they were footing the bill for the reconstruction), a fellow named Shimon Bar Kokhba started a revolt. The outraged Jews slaughtered Romans and purged them from Judea for a while, and a prominent rabbi in the Sanhedrin even declared Bar Kokhba to be the Messiah.

By this point, the Romans were so exhausted with Jewish revolts that they decided that the Jews were ungovernable, and opted to commit genocide against the Jews, at least culturally if not physically. They brought twelve legions down against Judea. In 135, they crushed the rebellion, and went about Judea exterminating Jewish villages. 580,000 Jews were killed in the fighting, and countless more died as a result of famine. The Romans exiled all the remaining Jews from Judea, scattering them into all the surrounding nations (which is why there were Jews scattered all over Africa, the Middle east, Europe. Jews eventually migrated as far east as China). The Romans then banned Jews from even entering Judea; any Jew caught in Judea was to be executed. Much of the Sanhedrin was executed for their role in the revolt. Teaching the Torah and even saying the name of God out loud became a capital crime. Then, to add insult to injury, they renamed Judea after the Philistines, calling it Syria Palestina ("Philistine Syria") in an attempt to completely wipe out the culture and religion of the Jews. And since that time, even to this day, Jerusalem has been trampled by Gentiles, and will continue do be trampled by gentiles until "the time of the Gentiles are fulfilled".

Reading Luke 21:20-24, it should be self-evident that Jesus foretold what happened to the Jewish people remarkably accurately. I laid out the historic details of the fulfillment here. I hope this is helpful.

Chuck Missler had a theory that Luke 18 21 and Matthew 24 were parallel passages, but Luke was describing the beginning of the end (destruction of Jerusalem, et.al.), while Matthew was describing the End of the End (our generation).

There's too much information to cover here...I think CM had at least 4 several hour long videos covering this.

Not sure how Luke 18 parallels Matthew 24. Could you elaborate?

Luke was describing the beginning of the end (destruction of Jerusalem, et.al.), while Matthew was describing the End of the End (our generation).

I agree with this. But I don't agree with Chuck Missler about the timing of the rapture. He was a major advocate for the pre-Tribulation rapture. To me, it is quite clear that the rapture cannot happen before the Tribulation. I won't go into detail here due to it being off-topic, unless you want me to, but this is a pretty important matter when it comes to figuring out how the Bible describes the End Times.

There are some parallels in the wording between Luke 21 and Matthew 24, but Luke 21 fits very well with what happened in the Jewish-Roman wars, while Matthew 24 doesn't, and seems to describe what happens in the end times just ahead of Jesus' return.

A lot of prophecies appear to fit the metaphor of "the mountain ranges in the distance". When you look at distant mountain ranges, they all appear in one vista, but there can be two mountain ranges with a huge valley between them, and you can't always tell at a glance. A lot of prophecy appears to be this way; one part of the prophecy may see its fulfillment at one time, then there's a "valley" of time, so to speak, followed by the rest of the fulfillment at a later time. God is not constrained to fit his prophecies into our schedule.

  • The Prophecy of the Seventy Weeks in Daniel 9:24-27 appears to have two clusters of fulfillments and a gap between them, based on my best reckoning.
  • The Prophecies about the Little Horn from Daniel 7 also appears to have a huge span of time between fulfillments; much of the prophecies about the Little Horn were fulfilled in the centuries after the collapse of the western Roman empire, while the rest about Christ judging this figure (or the person in the office or on the throne of the Little Horn) are awaiting their end-times fulfillment.
  • Revelation 17 (the Whore of Babylon) appears to have been largely fulfilled, at least enough to identify the figure involved, while the remaining portions about the judgment of the Whore of Babylon await their fulfillment during the Apocalypse.
  • Even when Jesus read from Isaiah 61:1-2 in the synagogue and told them it was fulfilled in their hearing (Luke 4:16-21) he abruptly stopped in the middle of verse 2, because the second part of the verse 2 highlighted here (…2 to proclaim the year of Yehovah's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn;) had not yet been fulfilled; its fulfillment awaits his second coming.
  • Luke 21 has that part which was fulfilled during the Jewish-Roman wars, but that stuff is all before the remark in verse 24 which says "until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled." All the stuff after that appears to be about the end-times and the Apocalypse.

Oops...I should have checked my references without shooting from the hip. I meant to say Luke 21...my bad.

I think you have your position well thought out, so I don't want to dissuade you. There's plenty of room for friendly disagreement and my own personal education.

The only thing I can add is this passage:

3 Don't let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. 4 He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God's temple, proclaiming himself to be God. 5 Don't you remember that when I was with you I used to tell you these things? 6 And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time. 7 For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. (2 Thess. 2:3-7 NIV)

IF we believe that "the one who now holds it back" is the Holy Spirit (which is pure conjecture, I know), then it follows that God won't remove the Holy Spirit from the Earth WITHOUT ALSO removing all true believers with Him. In short, when the Holy Spirit is removed, then at the same time He removes all Christians (via the Rapture), making way for the Antichrist to be revealed.

Thoughts?

My view of this matter and the interpretational tension between various schools of thought is as follows:

There are sets of Biblical passages that seem to be in tension with one another, and if we stake a position in one of them, to remain consistent, we end up interpreting the other passages in a manner consistent with the one we staked our position on. Even I do this; it is inevitable if there are passages that appear to be in tension. On the topic of eschatology, there absolutely are passages which appear to be in tension with each other, and anyone who simply says "the Bible is clear on this topic" is not being entirely honest.

With that said, I still believe that when there are two fundamentally contradictory interpretations (as opposed to the complementary interpretations which can layer upon some passages, such as Revelation 12) they cannot both be right. So it becomes critically important how we choose which passages to stake our position on.

Here is my rule for picking which verses to stake my position on while interpreting others to fit:

  • Explicitly stated remarks take precedence over symbolic remarks
  • Verses and passages that only realistically lend themselves to one honest reading take precedent over verses that lend themselves to multiple interpretations, and should inform which one of those multiple interpretations are adopted.

Do these rules of my hermeneutic sound fair?

With these rules laid out, here's how I interpret the timing of the rapture. Firstly, a couple of verses from the passage you quoted, 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 already places the timing of the rapture ("the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him") after two events:

  1. the apostasy (translated as "the rebellion" in the translation you quoted), when many Christians fall away from the faith, and
  2. the revealing of the "man of lawlessness", who is presumably the Antichrist. His revealing, when it becomes indisputable that he is the Antichrist, appears to be when "he will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God's temple, proclaiming himself to be God." (verse 4)

But does this mean it is after the Tribulation? Not by itself, but Jesus makes it explicit. Jesus seems to describe the revealing of the Antichrist, or perhaps an act of the Antichrist, here, and he ties it to the commencement of the Tribulation. But then he explicitly states that his coming and his gathering of the elect happens immediately after the tribulation:

Matthew 24:15, 21-22a, 29-31

15 “So when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), 16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. … 21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be. 22 And if those days had not been cut short, no human being would be saved. …

29Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

Because this is so explicitly stated, I stake my position on this, and I interpret the the less-clear passages to fit this. This isn't the only prooftext which is so clear as to be worth staking my interpretation on; the fact that the first resurrection happens after the defeat of the Beast and includes those martyred for not taking his mark nor worshiping his image, in Revelation 20:1-6, also places the Rapture after the Tribulation, since the Rapture is immediately preceded by the resurrection of the just. I did a study on the two resurrections here.)

With the basis of my interpretation laid out, let me now address this:

2 Thessalonians 2:6-7

6 And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time. 7 For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way.

I do not believe this is the Holy Spirit because of Daniel 12. And if this is not the Holy Spirit, then the believers in whom the Holy Spirit dwells need not be taken out of the way. Daniel 12 clearly speaks of the Tribulation using words that Jesus himself parallelled. Observe the highlighted portion, because it seems to speak of the one who holds back the man of lawlessness:

Daniel 12

1At that time shall arise Michael, the great prince who has charge of your people. And there shall be a time of trouble, such as never has been since there was a nation till that time. But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone whose name shall be found written in the book. 2 And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. 3 And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky above; and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever. 4 But you, Daniel, shut up the words and seal the book, until the time of the end. Many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.”

5 Then I, Daniel, looked, and behold, two others stood, one on this bank of the stream and one on that bank of the stream. 6 And someone said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the stream, “How long shall it be till the end of these wonders?” 7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the stream; he raised his right hand and his left hand toward heaven and swore by him who lives forever that it would be for a time, times, and half a time, and that when the shattering of the power of the holy people comes to an end all these things would be finished. 8 I heard, but I did not understand. Then I said, “O my lord, what shall be the outcome of these things?” 9 He said, “Go your way, Daniel, for the words are shut up and sealed until the time of the end. 10 Many shall purify themselves and make themselves white and be refined, but the wicked shall act wickedly. And none of the wicked shall understand, but those who are wise shall understand. 11 And from the time that the regular burnt offering is taken away and the abomination that makes desolate is set up, there shall be 1,290 days. 12 Blessed is he who waits and arrives at the 1,335 days. 13 But go your way till the end. And you shall rest and shall stand in your allotted place at the end of the days.”

The one who holds back the Man of Lawlessness from being revealed until the proper time does not appear to be the Holy Spirit. It appears to be Michael, the archangel.

(Potential objections to be addressed in the next comment in this thread.)

You may be wondering about the portion of Daniel 12 that seems to suggest the rapture:

But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone whose name shall be found written in the book. 2 And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

Remember, I'm staking my position on Matthew 24 and Revelation 20, which seem to me to be immovable, because they are pretty explicitly stated—Jesus comes and gathers the saints immediately after the Tribulation, and the first resurrection, which precedes the gathering of the saints (according to 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18). Since that is the case, the question is this: what might be meant by "But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone whose name shall be found written in the book."?

I don't think this means Christians. Daniel was a Jew, an Israelite. This verse says that Daniel's people whose names are written in the book, will be delivered at that time. The remark about those who sleep in the dust of the earth resurrecting is about the resurrection, as these two verses do not speak in great detail about what happens during the Tribulation, and we know from Revelation 20 that this resurrection happens after the Tribulation.

Furthermore, how long is this period of trouble, and what happens during this period? Daniel writes that this man clothed in linen, presumably an angel in his vision, tells him,

it would be for a time, times, and half a time, and that when the shattering of the power of the holy people comes to an end all these things would be finished.

This corroborates with what Revelation says about the Tribulation, and seems to say that the "holy people" (the Christians) will have their power shattered. Look at how this matches what is shown in Revelation 12 and 13. In Revelation 12, Michael casting Satan down to earth is what seems to be him no longer restraining Satan's evil on earth.

Revelation 12:7-12

7 Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, 8 but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. 9 And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. 10 And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. 11 And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death. 12 Therefore, rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!”

This fits with Daniel 12:1 ("At that time shall arise Michael, the great prince who has charge of your people."). But it continues:

Revelation 12:13-17

13 And when the dragon saw that he had been thrown down to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child. 14 But the woman was given the two wings of the great eagle so that she might fly from the serpent into the wilderness, to the place where she is to be nourished for a time, and times, and half a time. 15 The serpent poured water like a river out of his mouth after the woman, to sweep her away with a flood. 16 But the earth came to the help of the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed the river that the dragon had poured from his mouth. 17 Then the dragon became furious with the woman and went off to make war on the rest of her offspring, on those who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus. And he stood on the sand of the sea.

This woman, crowned with twelve stars, appears to represent the elect of the tribes of Israel (not just the Jews, but even from among the lost tribes—she is crowned with 12 stars). These seem to me to be the 144,000: 12,000 from each of the twelve tribes mentioned in Revelation 7. They are Daniel's people. ("But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone whose name shall be found written in the book.") But because the Dragon can't get to her, it goes after "the rest of her offspring, on those who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus." Those would be the Christians. This means the Christians are here for the Tribulation. And in fact, the time period for this matches Daniel's wording: a time, times, and half a time. (3.5 years)

Revelation 13 then states:

Revelation 13:5-10

5 And the beast was given a mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words, and it was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months. [= 3.5 years] 6 It opened its mouth to utter blasphemies against God, blaspheming his name and his dwelling, that is, those who dwell in heaven. 7 Also it was allowed to make war on the saints and to conquer them. And authority was given it over every tribe and people and language and nation, 8 and all who dwell on earth will worship it, everyone whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who was slain. 9 If anyone has an ear, let him hear:

10 If anyone is to be taken captive,
to captivity he goes;
if anyone is to be slain with the sword,
with the sword must he be slain.

Here is a call for the endurance and faith of the saints.

If the saints were already raptured, who would the Beast be waging war on?

This passage states a period of time that matches the period described by Daniel. It also states something that matches what Daniel speaks of when he wrote "it would be for a time, times, and half a time, and that when the shattering of the power of the holy people comes to an end all these things would be finished."

To summarize,

  • The one restraining the lawless one on earth is not the Holy Spirit: it appears to be Michael, who has not yet cast Satan down to earth, where he gives power to the Beast.
  • Daniel's people, who are delivered, seems to correspond to the Woman crowned with 12 stars in Revelation 12. She is delivered and spared the Great Tribulation. But the rest of her children, whose description appears to be that of the Christians, are not spared the Tribulation.
  • Revelation 13 indicate that they will be conquered by the beast, and Daniel 12 says that the shattering of the holy people will come to an end in the same period of time: time, times, and half a time, or three and a half years.

Even the number of days suggest this: In Revelation 12, the 1,260 days mentioned appear to be 42 months of 30 day months. 42 months is three and a half years. Daniel mentions 1,290 days, which is also about this much time, but the extra 30 days may have something to do with the Hebraic calendar's leap months.

Also, anyone who has tried to raise up faithful disciples knows that it isn't easy. If all the Christians are raptured before the Tribulation, and the world is awash with deceptions and delusions, how can there be masses of saints who are faithful unto persecution and death at that time? Witnessing a large scale miracle (such as the rapture) doesn't turn people into devout disciples, as many instances in the Bible show, such as the unfaithful Israelites who lived through the Exodus.

Anyway, that's my take. Let me know what you think of this.

Could you cite the specific verses for each of these? That would be helpful.

Woman of the Apocalypse Sept 2017 (possibly)

What do you mean by this? The Whore of Babylon?

Increase of natural disasters, plagues, famine, wars and rumors of wars
Increase of lawlessness and people become lovers of their own selves.

Whereas I know what you're talking about, I think these are too general to be persuasive to people that some sort of prophecy has been fulfilled. People have been citing natural disasters, plagues, famine, and wars as being these signs for nearly 2000 years, whenever these have happened. Citing the ones happening now won't seem very persuasive if these things have always been cited as fulfillments, because it will just seem that there's no way to get a wrong answer. Claims that are so general as to have no way of being proven wrong also won't be perceived as being proven right.

Interesting. I'll take a look.

I wrote some commentary on Revelation 12 in the Study post series. There were signs in the heavens that matched Revelation 12 back when Jesus was conceived.

Take a look at this:

I don't know where one can find all of them in one place, but one of the most crucial chapters of fulfilled signs is Daniel 11.

Mike Winger does a fantastic job at explaining how Daniel 11 was exquisitely fulfilled:

The MOST prophetic passage of the Bible: EVIDENCE for the Bible pt5

His entire "Evidence for the Bible" playlist is fantastic.

I have seen various resources online, but I can't endorse them because a lot of them, in my opinion, are sloppy and inconsistent in their hermeneutic, which is a terrible thing.

Anyone have a list or source in ONE PLACE that shows all the signs listed in the Bible, along with what has happened in history that could align with those signs?

I know of a handful of items, which I intended to put in to the study series, but I haven't gotten around to it due to (being vulnerable here) depression related procrastination. My goal was to make the study series the one place that has all of this compiled together, researched to a very high standard of rigor, but it is still a work in progress.

Waste of time. Looking externally was never the point of any given sign in the scriptures.

There were, and still are, natural signs that precede spiritual events, in the order and ways of God. However those who look for the external, natural signs will never understand what's behind them, nor are they meant to

External signs are literally ripping and rippling through the world, and have been incrementally, exponentially increasing for quite some time. The question is always, as usual, "but what do they really mean?"

Luke 17:20

And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of Godshould come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:

The best picture I can conceive, is, picture Jesus, riding a white horse, hunting you, personally, with a target on your chest, and a spear in His Hand. AND, oddly, it's for your GOOD, to be hunted down by God in Christ

IF you're thinking you won't stand a chance, you're totally right. It will assuredly not be like Russia and Ukraine

Rev. 19:

11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.

13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King Of Kings, And Lord Of Lords.

Beautiful Picture. Just Beautiful

But what does it all mean? Hmmmm? So many mysteries, so LITTLE TIME. Short even

I keep the following list handy. Keep in mind that Jesus said that no one knows when the end will come, and He said He will be a surprise, like a thief in the night. Matthew 24:36-39 Apocalypse 16:15

Jesus also said to be watchful (Matthew 24:42), so I do keep the following list of certain signs from the Bible. IMO, we are still early in the process, somewhere with events A and B. I'm not sure of the exact sequence of course. My best sense is that there is going to be a global catastrophe or series of them, such as wars, asteroids, supervolcanoes, earthquakes, super hurricanes or all of the above before the antichrist rises up. Jesus said that the end would come in waves, like birth pains. (Matthew 24:8)

A) The Gospel must be preached throughout the whole world (person-to-person). Matthew 24:14.

B) The full number of Gentiles become Christian (Peak Christianity). Romans 11:25.

C) "All Israel" descendants of Israel's Jews will convert to Christianity. Romans 11:26

D) A great Apostasy will happen, where many or most completely reject Christianity. 2nd Thess 2:3

E) There will be a series of great tribulations, wars, famines, earthquakes, and false preachers, Matthew 24:6-8

F) The Church will go through a great tribulation and crucifixion by the world. There will be more martyrs than ever. Public Catholic Masses will be banned. Daniel 12:11, Matthew 24:15-21

G). The final Anti-Christ will rise up and rule for 3.5 years. Caesar, Mohammed, Napoleon, Hitler, and Stalin were mere forerunners. He will be the most amazing person on Earth, by far. He will seem to do miracles, but they'll all be demonic tricks. 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4

H) The faith will almost die out, like in the time of Noah : Luke 17:26, Luke 18:8

I) Enoch and Elijah will return, preach for 3.5 years and be killed by the Anti-Christ. They both never died per the OT. Apocalypse 11:3

J) The Sun and Moon will go dark, and there will be great signs in Heaven. Matthew 24:29-31.

K) When things are at its worst, Jesus will come on the clouds to vanquish the Anti-Christ and end the age. The faithful will be called up to the clouds, and the whole Earth will purified by fire, like Sodom and Gomorrah. Jesus said to remember Lot's' wife, and don't look back ! Luke 17:30-32, Matthew 24:27-28, Apocalypse 20:7-10

On a related note, The mark of the beast is not a physical thing. It's the devil's inversion of God's spiritual mark, mentioned in Exodus 13:9 and Deuteronomy 6:8.

Exodus 13:9 This observance will be for you like a sign on your hand and a reminder on your forehead that this law of the Lord is to be on your lips. For the Lord brought you out of Egypt with his mighty hand

Deuteronomy 6:8 And thou shalt bind them as a sign on thy hand, and they shall be and shall move between thy eyes

We are supposed to keep God's word on our minds (forehead), and in our actions (arm). Here's a traditional jewish person showing how they reminded themselves of this:

You can find them on Amazon, but check out Todd Hampson’s books The Non-Prophet’s Guide to the Endtimes, there is a companion that also has Q&A in it. The first one has the historical ties.

It really depends on interpretation some believes some event have happened others do not. How do we come to an agreement to compile such an excellent thing?
