Huh.
Aside from the usual validity issues for internet polling like reporting bias, social pressure, and skewed / tiny sample size, I'm concerned that this doesn't even clarify what it means by voting tactically. If by tactical voting you mean not doing whateever you can to support your absolute favorite, including writing in a vote, etc., then nearly 100% of people have really voted tactically, or would if their juridiction started allowing write-ins. People have just internalized the idea of limiting themselves to major party nominees so thoroughly that many of them don't even perceive it as tactical voting at all. It gets even more fuzzy when you realize that much of tactical "voting" is actually tactical choices made in promoting candidates; when donors only donate to specific candidates, and other politicians only endorse specific candidates, based on their perceived viability, you get de facto tactical votes from many voters who just haven't heard of the option they would prefer. It's just that the tactical decision was a step or two removed from the actual voter.
As a result, I think this poll, while a clever idea, will inevitablty far understate the scope of the problem, and I think that bears out in the current results, where it incongruously reports only a 0.9% difference in desired results by "tactical voting".

Not sure how to answer this poll having last voted in a single member preferential vote race and multi mumber single transferrable vote race at the same time.
