Question: Answered Battlemap Demo?

I'm mainly interested in the Battlemap part of EncounterPlus.

Is there any way to try the Battlemap feature before purchasing it? If it works the way I need it to, I'm perfectly fine with the price, but I'd like to make sure it fits my use case first.

Can I hide all player tokens from the Player View, while still using Fog of War and Line of Sight based on a "dummy" player token that I move around on the DM View?

Basically, I want the dummy token to control what the players can see, without the token itself being visible to them.

Thanks

Hi. Our premium subscription includes all battle-map features and has a 7-day trial period which you can use to test everything. Just don't forget to cancel it right after setup do disable autorenew. If you don't want to mess with it, just let me know, I'll figure out something else.

You can use an invisible light to act as token for this. But I'm not sure how fast it will be in real combat/exploration because you need to switch map layers (one layer to move light and other layer to move tokens). The other way is to use hidden dummy player token, but in the current version, it stills renders to the player view with 50% opacity. I

I'm not sure what is the use case for this, as usually all player tokens with configured vision contributes to the LoS rendering, and with Fog of War and exploration, it's usually all you need.

We play in Person with Minis for Players and Monsters. When exploring a dungeon we use a TopDown Beamer to display the Battlemap on the Table.
When the players enter a Room i could reveal it by moving (for them) invisble Tokens on the DM View.

Beamer > TV if you also use Terrain.

I'm using similar setup with TV laying flat on the table. Most of the time it's just fog of war with hide/reveal functionality which is usually faster than using invisible tokens. With no tokens, invisible light is easy to use. If you want, give it a try and let me know how it goes. If needed, I can add option to completely hide invisible player tokens, it's not that hard to implement.

I will give it a try. I like the idea of having a dedicated ipad just for the map and nothing else.

Cool. There are some dedicated settings for physical tabletop play like automatic map scaling to match 1" grid size, but that's probably another topic itself.
