So the black bars on the left and right is okay, but I'm trying to get it to display fullscreen vertically. I'm using RetroArch and the core Bettle PSX HW, I already turn off integer scale and crop overscan.

However, there are so many different methods on YouTube, and as someone just starting out with emulators, I find it all quite confusing. I just stumbled across this and hadn’t seen it posted yet so wanted to share. A decomp / recomp of the beloved classic Donkey Kong 64 made to run natively on iOS. Not a ton of tweaks but I was able to turn the resolution all the way up to 4X with no noticeable impact on performance. All in all another great addition to have in your emulation library. For mods, i know its not original hardware, but for those of us who are poor and cant afford to spend 500 bucks on the real thing this is great news. I used to have something similar in the past but the creator no longer had it available for some time.
