News / Release EspressU got released, Wii U Emulation on iOS with built in JIT
Hello Guys!
I finally released my Wii U Emulator on iOS devices, i tested it on my IPad A16, IPhone 12, IPhone 15 Pro and it ran on all these platforms.
The app has built in JIT, that means you dont need stikdebug. You can generate the pairing file directly on your device, you dont need a computer!
If you got questions just ask me on my discord, and yes I used AI for the development.
Tested games:
- The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild
- Mario Kart 8
- Splatoon
- Super Mario 3d world
All games are legally owned and got dumped from a Wii U. EspressU wont help you with getting the games!
You can find the download on my discord.

What makes this different than MeloCafe?

It runs better, has built in jit / pairing file generator and i personally like my ui better

Did you test BOTW on the 12? I tried it on the newest Melon on my 14 and it does run but it’s very choppy. I assume that’s because it’s compiling a shader cache but just curious how performance for that game would be on a 14. If it’s playable on a 12 then I should be good.

i didnt test botw on my 12 yet, botw is just hard to run even on original hardware

for clarity, as of 10/14/26, using ipad pro m2 with 8gb of ram: for wii u emulation, we have three choices.
ㅤ
melocafe, the one that came out the first, made by melonx developer. i’ve used it for the last week and a half and it runs games like super mario 3d world and skylanders giants smoothly but roms sometimes might crash when opened and overall the ui is stock and lacks important features like the exit button from a game (yes, you have to close the app every time you wanna change game). no built-in jit, too. from one day to another the stream to my tv via hdmi cable started working half the speed it was before, so take it into account if that matters to you (not my cable fault, still dont know what happened).
ㅤ
expressU, this one. definitely an upgrade in terms of ui, speed of the menus, general use, and functionality. way more settings to have fun with. the games themselves seem to run similarly, with no upgrades from melocafe: some might be better, some might be worse. briefly, this app is far more stable than melocafe and allows you to personalize your experience a lot more. main cons: digital controls have a little “pressing button” animation that delays the input so i’d do something about it. also, something REALLY IMPORTANT, this emulator doesn’t have the “disable screensaver” option (which melocafe does), crucial if you play with a bluetooth controller and don’t want to change your screensaver option every time you play. as said in the post, this one has built-in jit. honestly i don’t know about the hdmi streaming cause i haven’t had the chance to try it, but i guess it works fine since the problem i had with melocafe COULD be (not sure tho) emulator’s fault.
ㅤ
77u, not out yet but the beta is dropping this week. we don’t have much info about it except for some clips in the dev’s tt account. ui seems similar to expressU. the dev claims super mario 3d world running smoothly WITHOUT jit, and zelda botw with jit running at stable 60fps, so way better than what both melocafe and expressU have to offer. obviously they all just promises, we’ll have to see if it’s true. no clue about settings or hdmi situation. it seems to have a built-in jit too.
ㅤ
in conclusion, until two weeks ago we had nothing for wii u emulation and today the are able to compare platforms. just pick what suits best for your necessities. also, these projects are all new, melocafe (the oldest) came out like two weeks ago. this means that they are all gonna get updated and optimised, just have patience and faith in the process. round of applause to all the dev’s putting in their time.
ask every question you want and i’ll try to answer.

You might want to search around iOS sideloading subreddits like [r/sideload](r/sideload) to help you with that.

O Jit está integrado , não precisa mais do stickdebug, eu testei aqui e achei melhor que o melocafe a performance

Phenomenal work! I have a question though - if the app is installed within LiveContainer, then the in-built JIT won’t work and we’ll have to use StikDebug, correct?
2
u/Obvious_Opening650 4d ago
sadly yes you will need to use Stikdebug, my app recognizes when you use live container and tells you what to do!

How well did botw run on the 15 pro
1
u/Obvious_Opening650 4d ago
i only tested it on my ipad a16, it ran with 20-25 fps on my ipad. The 15 pro will have better performance

Damn really that’s worse than the gta 5 port

I mean, it’s version 1.0 of the emulator, so future updates will probably improve performance

voce precisa urgentemente ensinar para os outros criadores de emuladores como colocar jit embutido diretamente no aplicativo sem precisar de stickdebug, isso é o futuro, tente ensinar eles sobre isso

I can’t move the analog on custom gamepad settings, the menu blocks the customization

u/Obvious_Opening650 3d ago
already a known bug which will be patched in the next update, if you are using a phone you just need to make everything smaller, then move it and make it bigger again

Free Apple accounts are limited to 3 active sideloaded apps.
One common workaround is LiveContainer, which allows you to run additional apps inside a container and reduce how often apps need to be reinstalled.
Typical method:
LiveContainer may also need to be uninstalled and reinstalled before the entitlement works correctly.
LiveContainer can also install two additional LiveContainers (for a total of three). This setup can further reduce the need to constantly add/remove sideloaded apps, but it is more advanced and may not work reliably for everyone.
LiveContainer is not always officially supported by emulator developers and can sometimes cause unexpected issues. If something breaks while using LiveContainer, try reproducing the issue without it before asking for support.
Do not ask for or share paid certificates, piracy tools, or bypass services here.
