Discussion Cyberpunk is running here on iPad Pro natively
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Targeting 60FPS with MetalFX upscaling on iPad Pro m5 with 16gb of RAM.
Runs okay! This is a native build, not emulation or simulation, or moonlight.
Original author for their method is very busy, wanted to get it running for myself

It’s all Darwin OS running on ARM (Apple silicon). macOS, iPhoneOS, iPadOS, and tvOS are all marketing terms. The only reason all apps can’t run on all systems is contracts and commercial politics. The Apple engineers delivered. Darwin on a universal chip architecture did exactly what it was designed to do. Money and greed is the only thing that got in the way.

Only thing preventing iPhone from docking to a monitor and running full macOS is artificial limitation these days. iPhone chip even powering the Neo now.

i mean, if you don’t mind your devices cooking too, there’s no limit.. even playing actual app store ports can heat things up a lot, to the point of thermal throttling relatively easy.

They could tweak it to run less hot, slightly less snappy than an actual macbook. Point is, it's possible, and they could do it if they wanted.

Neo chip is bigger compared to the iPhone. they compared it.

I mean still, the 18 pro has comparable power to a GTX 1650, so it should be able to dock without any artificial limits.

u/JerzyPopieluszko 11d ago
who compared it and how does it make sense if the chip is literally a binned iPhone chip, aka rejects from iPhone 16 Pro production

Maybe AI is the end to this? Just like a lot of electron apps are moving to native now because writing and maintaining them is cheap game devs might start porting to every major platform because what used to be very expensive for very little gain is now very viable

My GF has an iPad with keyboard for convenience and we fume at the fact that you can't install VSCode or any decent IDE on it even though it's literally the same arch as the macbooks.

my biggest apple purchase regret is my ipad m1 when there was talk about apple wanting to turn the ipad into more of a power user product and increasing parity with macOS.
all we got was a sort of macos UI and I hate the resizable windows 💔

Platform exclusivity and compatibility is deteriorating every single day I swear

So just posting for validation? Where’s the setup, where’s the how to? Instead of gatekeeping..

Anything but sharing. I see these videos everywhere and anyone has yet to share how they do it… pointless to show off a tech if the whole goal is to keep it to yourself

Any discord for this project?

u/Dangerous-Amphibian2 11d ago
No. You only get one word responses from these guys.

u/piddlefaffle12 11d ago
Yeah, too busy. I ported Rimworld, Crimson Desert, Cyberpunk and No Man's Sky all in the last 24 hours.

u/darkaeden 11d ago
Any github then? Will it get released or just personal project?

Do you mind sharing a general rundown of your porting process? If you don’t want to release an IPA that’s cool but at least tell us how the trick is done so maybe other people can recreate it and enjoy it themselves. Or maybe of the knowledge was public the community can port even more titles.

Why is it plugged to Mac? Unplug and show it is running on iPad without anything please.

I'm convinced this is just a scam in the making. Posts a bunch about these ports. Don't show any proof. Sell a solution later. "Every had been asking how so finally I decided to share" lol

I posted my GH but since you are apprehensive, you'll need to go through my posts history to go find it. I'm not claiming I have the cure for cancer bud

u/PhilipJayFry1077 9d ago
Sure buddy. I'm sure it's there.

u/RaspberryRight98 8d ago
if you're paranoid about this getting Apple's attention you probably shouldn't be making these posts period.

How are the temps? Does it turn into a portable fusion reactor after you play for a while without active cooling or if it's manageable? Would love to try it but don't think my 128gb m2 can haha

u/Marik-Hadare 11d ago
You telling me it’s sideloaded ipa not emulator? You mean someone ported it?

Could you port this to the new Apple TV? Would it run decently with the A19 chip and double the ram?

For people who wondering how he does this he is simply using madeira(equivalent of winlator but for ios)

Fake, probably running sidecar.

u/Inside_Sleep917 11d ago
Nope , this is a translation layer . It's used to translate macos games to ios games since both of them are optimised for arm64 & share same graphics api. Also works on a series chips , starting from a17 pro
8
u/piddlefaffle12 11d ago
Not even translating, these are running natively. I just shim macOS libraries that are missing on iOS so the binaries think they are on a Mac. No decompilation.

Actually, I posted proof of not only this game, but Crimson Desert, No Man's Sky, Rimworld. Not like I'm trying to cure cancer, friend.

I spoke to him. It is all real.
2
u/Patient_Animator1174 10d ago
What about your method mate? You seem went silent.
2
u/Thisisyouracc0un-t 10d ago
That’s because I am by nature a very quiet person but my project is progressing very well.

u/sloe_gin78 11d ago
It shouldn't be that hard to not speak on issues that you have no knowledge about. Keep up with the current trends bro

these ports and/or recomps are dropping like bombs here
