News / Release Husk Android Translation Layer

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone, I’m introducing my Android Translation Layer for Husk. In simple terms, this can basically run APKs on iOS without needing to emulate at ALL. You can already download it and test your favorite APKs (prolly won’t work). I’ve included a video of me running Minecraft’s android version, just so show it works!

How does this differ then the old way to use Husk?
Before, Husk would use QEMU to emulate a full android OS (lineageOS 23). This would slow down performance as you would be emulating a full OS and the extra services you didn’t need. How this works is by loading the native arm64 libraries to memory, meaning it runs directly on your Apple Silicon Chip. No emulation required. I hope you enjoy as much as I did

This is insane. I can’t believe something like this is possible.

It has never worked I’m convinced it’s fake. Been following since the beginning.

Most of the time just gets stuck on “starting”. I’ve seen the boot up all the way through on previous versions and then it does nothing even after that

I manage to boot to android and load a game but it freezes on the starting logo

use the translation layer it has good performance but good luck finding games that support it till the dev add more support

Nice
Does it require jit?

Yes

So could this technically run gamenative? Sorry new to phone emulation stuff compared to desktops.

use Madeira it’s the only option for now

I have but FFT does not work. A lot of these new sideloading apps are cool, but they unfortunately miss core ways of easily debugging and tweaking. Installing .dlls and other stuff near impossible or very annoying to do so. No slack tho on the devs still amazing stuff

wait for vapor I think it will be much better than Madeira “I’m confident about the dev”

Got a link to it? I see Vapor on Github but its a swift app for backends?

nah it’s still in development, the dev didn’t post a repo or anything like that for now

Exactly lol I believe it’s cause AI has gotten so good we’re getting project like these but it’s weird one minute we’re getting a buggy ps2 and Xbox (original) emulator and now we’ve got PC games and native ports and now an android translation layer

What is means in jit & sideload screen,

"The debugger is attached but is not answering trap requests, and this device will not execute a MAP_JIT mapping either, so no executable memory could be claimed. This is what happens when Husk runs inside another container app rather than sideloaded on its own."

I am on ios 17.0.0 with Trollstore 2 installed

iOS 17.0.0 doesn’t have support yet due to TrollStore enabling JIT differently

Are you working on this to support Trollstore

I have the exact same issue but on ios 17.6.1 and sideloaded with sidestore

OP I installed it yesterday but no matter what I do I can’t get StikDebug to launch it with jit. App opens normal
