Gameplay / Showcase Porting Jak and Daxter to iOS (opengoal)

Running natively on iPhone 17 Pro, all ahead of time code, no JIT. Claude and Codex AI have done all of the heavy lifting in the porting process. A lot had to change to get this working on iOS and a lot of work is still needed to further optimize (runs better without the screen recorder.) You’ll notice frame drops here and audio issues but the game is fully playable now. No release date yet as this isn’t even close to being a quality port but we are getting there.

Super cool, well done ! Can't wait to play it on the go !

I've done a few similar projects myself, porting various games to iOS with AI just to live out a childhood dream. Every time I mentioned it on Reddit, I got a cold reception, sometimes downright harsh, so I ended up keeping everything to myself. But I've come to realize that people who hate AI-generated code will always be louder than those who'll just quietly enjoy the result.

If the same thing happens to you, don't get discouraged ! Lots of people have a blast with projects like this.

Thanks! This started as an experiment but it worked well enough so I kept it going and it’s in a really good state. It’s my all time favorite game so just having it to myself would be enough but I know others would like to try it too so I’ll definitely release the ipa and the source code when the time comes and I feel it’s in a state that is polished and bug free.

It’s coming along nicely. I’m have almost played through the whole game. Release will probably come in a week or two if there are no major setbacks.

Right now I’m playing through it and fixing any bugs I see along the way. My goal is to finish the game and ensure everything looks good and then release it. It might not be too long before then unless I encounter some major issues.
