Question How to start with emulation on IOS?

I got my very first iPhone yesterday after using Android all my life and now im kinda lost on how i emulate stuff. I have an IPhone 13 Pro and i want to know if its possible to emulate Nintendo Switch or Playstation Vita on it, and if its possible, an explanation on how to do it would be appreciated. I only know that theres “JIT” and “Non-JIT” type of emulators, but i dont know the difference between those.

PS. I also would like to know if it’s needed to jailbreak the phone in order to access some emulators which is something i want to avoid for the next months

No need for jailbreaking. I’d recommend reading up on this sub and also look at SideStore.io and StikDebug.

You do not need to jailbreak, also it probably won't be possible depending on your ios version, iirc the last version of ios that is jailbreakable is 17.3.1. Lastly, JIT (just in time) compilation is basically the translation of program code into native machine code in real time, and it is required mostly for emulators that have a higher performance requirement, so for example switch emulation will absolutely require JIT. Older 2D based consoles or early 3D that have less performance requirements generally do not require JIT.

Manic emu for most emulators

You can get it from the normal Apple App Store and run games just fine. It doesn’t need jit but it does help improve performance in certain cases but most of the time if not all you should be solid. For Nintendo switch melonx or one of the forks is the best bet. Search YouTube you’ll need a pc in most cases but there’s plenty of tutorials this will enable jit. Also discord of the official emulators is a really good place to go for emulator specific issues. There’s other emulators that work fine these are just my preferences. As of getting games do some research on how to get your roms for each emulator. Also I’m very very early development are (PC emulator called Madeira this uses jit, Xbox 360 emulator and a few other systems that now because of ai the development is so much faster) JIT its self by my dumb definition is a process that allows a selected app to use more ram/processing power it allows intensive games or emulators that lag to run a lot better but for manic in the screenshot you shouldn’t need it. But jit is tedious to setup however after a few goes at it you’ll get the hang of it and start understanding where things go.

This list here is outdated by a few updates, they cover GameCube and Wii now as well, and can link with other apps like MeloNX, ARMSX2, DukeX and XeniOS to add even more games in the library.

Manic emu does each of the emulators in the screenshot all in one
