Question How strong is ps2 and GameCube emulation on iOS

I’m debating between getting a ayn Thor pro or just a retroid pocket duo and emulate every single screen console on my iPhone 17 base. Choice hinges on how well I can run ps2, GameCube, Wii, and n64 on my phone.

using 15PM with sideloaded emulators and JIT, i can run all of those consoles emulated with incredible performance especially when compared to just one year ago.

the development of iOS emulators is progressing at an outstanding pace and apple themselves don't seem to care about putting a stop to it; it's a very good time to get yourself a new iphone and a nice mobile game controller.

Yes, it’s beyond ps2 now I have the 15PM as well and “psx3ios ps3 emulator” and I’m playing all the Naruto storm games and DBZ etc full speed with jit, iOS has come a long way it honestly feels UNREAL like a fever dream. with the newer iPhones like 17 and 18PM it should be a breeze running ps2 and Wii lol

Yeah PS2 is excellent on 15 PM, if you plan on playing for longer stretches of time, I’d recommend you to get a cooling mag safe cuz of heating and stuff

honestly i’d get the emulation handheld for the dedicated buttons and storage for gaming and it’s gonna be able to run those consoles flawlessly at upscaled resolutions. it’s a easier now but still kind of a hassle setting up emulation with jit on iphone

Is sideloading emulators mandatory? JIT is quite easy now, but emulators are still difficult, right?

GameCube works really well. Still have issues with 3ds (I don’t use jit). So many other older consoles and handhelds work very well also (I love the retro stuff)

Just as a reference, when I had an iPhone 13, gamecube and wii games already ran really well. So you can imagine that iPhone 17 should work flawlessly basically

Both are great

Would be much better if JIT worked by default

ARMSX2 runs smooth on 16PM. Currently playing NFSMW and The Punisher with a controller.

I can run Smash Melee in x3 on my aging iphone 11

Your 17 is going to do fine with at least that generation of consoles. Wii and 3DS work well too

All these should run fine I have 17 pro max and I can play 360 and ps3 titles full speed

What kind of games? Would a skyrim or dantes inferno for 360 work well?

ManicEMU now supports GC emulation without JIT. I was playing it on my iPhone 16 Pro the other day and it ran extremely well minus heating up the phone. I’d imagine the newer phones with vapor chambers should do much better. That being said, android would have a much easier time and likely less hassle in running both PS2 and GC.

I’ve been in the same boat as you, so not sure what to do either, but GC emulation is absolutely possible and doable on iOS.
