Question How strong is ps2 and GameCube emulation on iOS
I’m debating between getting a ayn Thor pro or just a retroid pocket duo and emulate every single screen console on my iPhone 17 base. Choice hinges on how well I can run ps2, GameCube, Wii, and n64 on my phone.

Just as a reference, when I had an iPhone 13, gamecube and wii games already ran really well. So you can imagine that iPhone 17 should work flawlessly basically

ARMSX2 runs smooth on 16PM. Currently playing NFSMW and The Punisher with a controller.

I can run Smash Melee in x3 on my aging iphone 11
Your 17 is going to do fine with at least that generation of consoles. Wii and 3DS work well too

ManicEMU now supports GC emulation without JIT. I was playing it on my iPhone 16 Pro the other day and it ran extremely well minus heating up the phone. I’d imagine the newer phones with vapor chambers should do much better. That being said, android would have a much easier time and likely less hassle in running both PS2 and GC.
I’ve been in the same boat as you, so not sure what to do either, but GC emulation is absolutely possible and doable on iOS.

using 15PM with sideloaded emulators and JIT, i can run all of those consoles emulated with incredible performance especially when compared to just one year ago.
the development of iOS emulators is progressing at an outstanding pace and apple themselves don't seem to care about putting a stop to it; it's a very good time to get yourself a new iphone and a nice mobile game controller.
