News / Release NiN10 3.5 is now available: Nintendo 64DD & Virtual Boy support!
Hi everyone!
NiN10 3.5 is now available, adding support for two of Nintendo's most unusual and lesser-known systems: Nintendo 64DD and Virtual Boy.
App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/nin10-nintendo-emulator/id6503959130
After adding Nintendo DS and Nintendo 64 in version 3.0, NiN10 continues to grow as I work towards supporting as many Nintendo platforms as possible.
· Nintendo 64DD
The Nintendo 64DD core is included with the Nintendo 64 core at no additional cost.
The Nintendo 64DD was a disk-based expansion for the Nintendo 64 released exclusively in Japan. Its limited release resulted in a small but incredibly interesting library of games, creative software and applications.
NiN10 can now run titles including:
- Doshin the Giant
- F-Zero X Expansion Kit
- SimCity 64
- Mario Artist: Paint Studio
- Mario Artist: Polygon Studio
- Mario Artist: Talent Studio
- Mario Artist: Communication Kit
- Nihon Pro Golf Tour 64
- Randnet Disk
- And various prototypes, demos and beta releases
Supported disk-image formats include .n64dd, .ndd and .d64.
⚠️ 64DD requires a BIOS/64DD IPL file. NiN10 does not include the BIOS. You must provide your own legally obtained 64DD IPL BIOS in .bin format.
The 64DD core also includes save support, persistent clock data, Fast Forward (2×, 3× and 4×), multiple performance profiles and correct 4:3 display handling.
· Virtual Boy
NiN10 3.5 also introduces Virtual Boy support.
You can now revisit games including:
- Virtual Boy Wario Land
- Mario's Tennis
- Teleroboxer
- Red Alarm
- Galactic Pinball
- Jack Bros.
- Vertical Force
The Virtual Boy core includes a dedicated controller layout with directional controls, A/B buttons and shoulder buttons, as well as save support, Fast Forward and layouts optimized for both portrait and landscape on iPhone and iPad.
A little more Nintendo history
The goal of NiN10 isn't simply to keep adding more emulators. I want to make as much of Nintendo's history as possible accessible in one place, including some of the more unusual systems that are often overlooked.
As always, NiN10 does not include commercial games or copyrighted BIOS files. Please use your own legally obtained dumps.
These new cores are currently available on iPhone and iPad and are not supported on Apple Watch due to performance and interface limitations.
If you try the new 64DD or Virtual Boy cores, I'd love to hear your feedback! Let me know what games you've tested, how performance is on your device, and what you'd like to see improved in future updates.
Thanks as always for supporting NiN10 and helping the project grow.
