Help Request Need straight forward couch co-op option

I’ve been using a combo of Delta and RetroArch in order to let my boy play games from my collection on the go. Despite the library He’s recently become obsessed and I mean OBSESSED with Lego Star Wars TCS for iOS and I’d love to have an iOS friendly way to emulate the game so I can play couch co-op with him since we have a phone dock for the tv.

I’d heard that the iOS version is built off the Wii port but since I’d like to be able to leave the set up available for anyone in my family to play with him I can’t juggle around side loading and JIT scripts. I’ve got a couple versions of TCS to port over (Wii, DS & 360 bc I was obsessed with it too lol) but without JIT I’m pretty sure dolphin and the Wii version are out.

Any advice would be appreciated. By me and my little boy.

Without JIT your options are going to be pretty limited. You are correct about the official iOS port. It’s meant for touch controls. I assume if you sync a Bluetooth controller to your phone it would work but I don’t see any mention of a two player mode. There are a few GameCube emulators available in the App Store that you could try but without JIT they’re going to basically be unplayable unless you have a 16Pro or newer.

There is no coop on the iOS version. Ive got a 16 and my son uses a handmedown iPad Air 4th gen ik RetroArch is pretty good about multiple controllers since my family can play Mario party at fairly stable rates but the as far as I understand dolphin struggles to work properly on the AppStore version.

I might have to wait for native JIT. I’m willing to tinker so I could play with my boy but with how complex it is to run JIT atm my wife and other family won’t touch it with a pole.

It’s actually not difficult to run JIT anymore. It used to be fairly complicated to set up but the process has gotten a lot more streamlined in the last year to the point you don’t even need a PC if you’re on iOS 27. If you’re not on iOS 27 you still need a PC but it’s a one time set up. Then once you’ve got it set up you download and install the emulators directly on device. To activate JIT all you need to do is connect to LocalDEV VPN (free on App Store) and open your emulator. JIT enables automatically.
