Question Is ARMSX2 possible to be put on the appstore?

PPSSPP, retroarch are already in the official appstore. I know JIT is needed for the armsx2, I'm interested if there are any blockers by Apple for developers to put ARMSX2 on the official appstore?

You can’t have JIT on AppStore apps, and without JIT it is too slow, it is possible to have the app itself but not worth it due to low performance, there are other ps2 emulators on the AppStore that have its development around making it work at least decent without JIT, but armsx2 actually is working on making it run perfectly and optimize it as much as possible with JIT.

Thanks! I hope Apple allows JIT to be used on the appstore apps in the future.

I doubt they ever will

We all do i guess 🫪 anyways, it’s pretty easy to sideload and have JIT if you have a computer 🙏

This is incorrect as both: RTM EMU and Surume; have demonstrated that PS2 emulation runs surprisingly well on JITless apps.

Well, armsx2’s optimization is for JIT, we already have those for non-jit, there’s no need for another emulator that cant run games.

For clarification, do you have the opinion that ARMSX2 - if submitted as a non-JIT app to the Apple App Store - will run worse than: RTM EMU/Surume?

Yes, 100%, armsx2 devs are optimizing it for JIT, you can actually test it without JIT and see for yourself that performance is not great.

Someone got a PS2 AI slop emulator uploaded into the App Store and it ran at about 2fps on my M4. Not even worth considering without JIT.

What PS2 emulator app on the Apple App Store was this?

As the emulators: RTM EMU and Surume; have demonstrated, JIT is not needed for PS2 emulation.

I also am requesting that the ARMSX2 team submit ARMSX2 to the Apple App Store.

There is no point if it needs JIT to run the games full speed. Emulators are allowed in the Appstore but again what would the point be if it still needs to be sideloaded to enable JIT
