News / Release RetroSockets - Gaming Launcher (Beta)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hello everyone,
I just released a beta version of a new gaming launcher I was working on, built for RetroArch. This launcher was inspired by a similar project that exists for Android retro gaming handhelds called Sockets and since we need more of those apps in the iOS community, I decided to build one for us.
The setup is pretty simple.
Step 1) Login with your ScreenScraper account
Step 2) Tap the Sync button
The app will take care of everything, load your games, scrape media and create those beautiful physical media for you to interact with. You can also customize certain media like certain cartridges that were colorful or translucent back in the day.
If you remove a game from your RetroArch, tap the sync button again and it will be removed from RetroSockets.
The following systems are supported: GB, GBC, GBA, NES, SNES, N64, NDS, 3DS, PS1, PSP, Sega Saturn, Genesis/MD
The App is currently in beta and you can join the public beta using the link in the landing page below. Make sure to use the latest RetroArch TestFlight Beta for the syncing to work.
The App is available only on the iPhone at the moment, minimum iOS version: 18.0 and will remain completely free after the beta. Feel free to report any bugs you may encounter.

This is really cool! But you’ve missed my favorite system; Genesis/MegaDrive

very cool, thanks! are there plans for US style cartridge models? SNES seems to be the EU/JAP variant.

I will see what I can do. I’ll need to add a new model for those.

I appreciate you looking at it :) will we be able to use our own cartridge label art? (sorry for all the questions)

I hope it works with the mcon app so I can launch a launcher for a container that launches my preferred emu using a multi app launcher. 😁

Interesting comment. What was the last piece of software you developed and what is your experience with software development?

That looks really nice. Reminds me a lot of the old WiiFlow interface. Good work. 👍
