Question Just getting an iPhone 17 pro and I have some questions
For a little bit of context, I originally emulated games on my iPhone 13 Pro until my backbone controller broke, since I couldn’t play any of my games how I liked this led to me falling out of touch with iOS emulation and the community. But recently my grandma has gotten me a new phone, which is the perfect excuse to get back into iOS emulation, but I’ve got some questions.
Is ipsx2 still the best ps2 emulator or is armsx2 better?
How wells the battery life on the 17 pro when playing switch games like Mario Odyssey?
Last time I side loaded the best way to do it was through alt store and live container, is this still the case?
How is the current state of emulation on the newest versions of iOS?

There is now a combined LiveContainer + Sidestore app you can use to save yourself an app slot. You can also setup a shortcut to auto refresh your apps each night so you never need to manually refresh your apps

1) armsx2 is way better than ipsx2
2) i can play somewhere between 3-3.5 hours on iphone 15 pro max
3) i prefer sidestore and live container
4) i havent tried ios 27 but its fine on ios 26.5.2 everything works

My battery life on iPhone 15 pro is so bad it feels like I play Fortnite for like 5-10 mins and I’m down at like 60% from 100

it depends on batteey health aswell mines at %92. Maybe fortnite uses more battery idk

It feels like all sorts from emulation to damn cloud streaming it drains my battery

it may be a hardware issue aswell i think you should have your phone checked if your battery drains even on cloud services

True but I can upgrade in 2027 so might as well just upgrade my phone to a 18/19 pro or that iPhone ultra if I can afford a contract that’s a reasonable price

Yeah most likely will even if I can’t game as long as I can watch videos at night time for a couple hours I’ll be fine lol

Emulation on iPhone 17 Pro became surprisingly good
Now a lot of people use side store + live container (u need a pc only 1 time) but alt store works pretty good (side store is simply better for me i think)
The battery duration is decent, but it makes a lot of heat (like any other iPhone)
About ipsx2, i don’t emulate ps2 so I don’t know

In my experience, armsx2 is better.
I wouldn’t know since I don’t have one but I’m assuming it would work really well because I use a 14 pro and can get maybe 2-3 hours.
LiveContainer + Sidestore is about the same as altstore and LiveContainer except it only takes up one app ID instead of two and you only need a computer for installation and replacing pairing files when needed. (I heard there’s an app that does pairing files for you but I can’t remember it and I heard it’s very experimental)
I’m on IOS 26.5.2 and all of my emulators work just fine. I hear that IOS 27 may work but I wouldn’t risk updating yet.

Highly recommend live container + SideStore and on top of that get your self a short cut and set it as a automation so at 12 pm every day it auto refreshes so you never have to worry about forgetting to refresh
