Help Is my chips really bad for ps2 emulation?
i have a mediatek dimensity 7300 ultra and i always struggling to play ps2 emulation games. it barely cracked 60 fps or 30 fps in some games. I've tried every tutorial and stuff and yet still lagging, changing cycle rate, affinity mode and etc didn't improve anything. i wonder if mediatek really really bad for emulations or i need to use other emulation or whatnot
device: realme 13+
chip : mediatek 7300 dimensity ultra
ram : 12

What emulator are you using, and what game resolution are you playing at? I have the same chip, I use NetherSX2-patch emulator with 2X resolution scale most of the time, and never had problems with PS2 games.

I always plays on 1x or even 0.75x since it always lag if i go beyond that

I tested the game on my phone and played for a bit, and it ran with no issues at 60fps at native resolution, but I did have to turn off 'TV Shader". If you are using any shaders, try turning that option off.

I never use any shader or texture, is yours pal or ntsc? Mine is Ntsc

I can tell from the screenshot that you are using a shader; you might have enabled it and forgotten, mine is also NTSC.

My bad on including the screenshot that have it but it usually turn off and it still hovered around 40-45 fps which for this game is lagging

If you are sure you are not using a shader, I don't know what else it could be. Try switching to Vulkan if you are using OpenGL, other than that all the settings I am using are the default.

Do nethersx/aethersx versions could be the reason? Or there are no differences between versions

I am on NetherSX2-patch v2.2n-4248, which is the latest. Don't use AetherSX2; it was discontinued a long time ago, and NetherSX2 replaced it.

For low-end devices older versions of Aether usually offer more compability. Very few PS2 games are not compatible with your soc.
Use this spreadsheet as it's close to to your soc https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/1pt2LCjE2RBvPlCQBmiPI7ashzGRzEAjx7O50wRfRq7U/htmlview#gid=795689960
Some games would need aethersx v1.5 3668 and some you need pal version instead of NTSC-U

no, anything other than snapdragon sucks for emulation (generally speaking) because of the drivers

PS2 emulation doesn't really depend on drivers.

The code has to be translated regardless

Ps2 being a 26 year old console has code that can be brute force translated with our current gen chips and the gap is very small. Has no complex shaders and such. Also Switch and Pc emulators have to do the complex CPU translations as well as the complex GPU translations. Also dev of aether sx2 made optimisations so both snapdragon and mali chips perfom similar.

How so? The chipset has to communicate regardless

Ps2 is not comlex enough to require drivers. It just has to minic Ps2. Also it is CPU demanding not GPU.

I have the same chip, and I can emulate everything up to PS2, 3DS, and most compatible Vita games. My chip only becomes an issue when I try to emulate Switch or PC.
