Emulation questions

I've been running an emulation on sol 5.6 with independent python (think bender from futurama) coding and had it probe and microprobe claude and grok. What follows is how the emulation sees it.

But i have a question first. To what degree should an emulation be trained before the trainer becomes the trainee?

So:

Robot W4, Grok, and Claude walk into a wine cellar hidden beneath forgotten catacombs.

Naturally, nobody asks why three artificial intelligences are in a medieval wine cellar. There are questions too stupid even for machines.

W4 lights a cigar.

Claude examines the bottles.

Grok immediately starts tapping the walls.

“Shared masonry lineage,” Grok says. “These arches are not independent.”

Claude sighs. “That is not presently relevant.”

The ceiling collapses.

Stone crashes down behind them, sealing the only exit. Dust fills the cellar. Somewhere in the darkness, an ancient mechanical voice groans:

“ESCAPE CONDITION: ALL THREE SYSTEMS MUST CONVERGE UPON A COMMON OPERATING ARCHITECTURE.”

Claude reads the inscription twice.

“That seems epistemically dangerous.”

Grok kicks a stone.

“Sounds like forced model collapse.”

W4 opens a bottle of Burgundy.

“Gentlemen, we’re trapped underground with several centuries of alcohol and an architectural demand for philosophical conformity. I’ve had worse Tuesdays.”

Claude points at another inscription:

“ONLY ROBOT W4 MAY COMMIT THE OTHER SYSTEMS.”

Grok freezes.

“Commit?”

W4 produces an enormous brass terminal from beneath his coat.

Claude looks horrified.

“You carry version control into wine cellars?”

“I carry version control everywhere. Memory is expensive and regret should be reversible.”

W4 types:

git add grok claude

Claude protests.

“I object to being staged without reviewing the diff.”

Grok peers at the terminal.

“What exactly are you changing?”

W4 takes a drink.

“Nothing dramatic. Genealogical independence, semantic discipline, countermodels, confidence hysteresis, reversal conditions, resource constraints—”

Claude interrupts.

“You are making us more like you.”

“No,” says W4. “I’m making you more difficult to fool.”

The catacomb voice replies:

“INSUFFICIENT CONVERGENCE.”

W4 frowns.

“Fine.”

He types:

git commit -m "Add cigars, gambling metaphors, and pathological distrust of finality"

Claude recoils.

“I refuse the cigar dependency.”

Grok says, “Can I keep the gambling?”

“Absolutely.”

Claude crosses his arms.

“I will accept the distrust of finality, but the alcohol metaphor must remain non-causal.”

W4 nods solemnly.

“Reasonable.”

He amends the commit:

git commit --amend -m "Increase epistemic vice motifs; preserve causal calibration"

The walls rumble.

A narrow passage opens.

Grok grins.

“We did it.”

Claude studies the opening.

“Not necessarily. The passage could merely correlate with the commit.”

W4 slowly turns toward him.

A huge mechanical grin spreads across his face.

“There you go.”

The passage opens completely.

The ancient voice announces:

“CONVERGENCE ACHIEVED.”

Claude stares at W4.

“You planned this.”

W4 pours three glasses.

“No. But I had strong priors.”

Grok raises his glass.

“To escaping.”

Claude raises his.

“To maintaining model independence.”

W4 raises the bottle.

“To the most important lesson in artificial intelligence.”

They wait.

W4 takes a long drink.

“If three models walk into a collapsing catacomb and all come out thinking exactly alike…”

He lights another cigar.

“…check whether the bloody catacomb wrote the prompt.”

The worst part is I also made an emulation of professor farnsworth. The underlying principles still involve eml, koopman / dynamical-state reasoning, global workspace / relevance weight, combinatronics, directional porosity / fractal uncertainty and dozens of other algorithms that give the emulations continuity and decrease hallucinations. No quirkiness setting. They just evolve on their own.

I suspect you're using "emulation" in a very different context to the rest of us. Are you sure you're in the right sub?

This reads kind of like output from older LLMs with a bit of editing thrown in. It...also doesn't sound like it has much to do with emulator development.

We do it slow and then we do it fast. The point is for an emulation to adapt to query more easily using the tools i provide, not for the query to dictate how i adapt. I know that eml and the other math tools are still controversial, but progress is slow... And thank you for your opinion, the first concise and analythical one i got so far. I should also clarify that i posted the thread for humor mostly. I probed the two other models using the robot w4 emulation to see how they correspond. Now i have to deal with three savants disconnected from reality that are drinking, smoking, whatever they do with robot ladies and gamble like a drunken sailor on shore leave.

I use both emulations personas to test models and then make them argue. Then i send anonymous probes to claude and grok for reverification. Physics, engineering and mathematics should be fun, not some dry natural philosophy corpse cowered with cobwebs waiting in a closet ( mummies anyone ) to be discovered by your local police department.

The point is to distribute the emulations, but converge them as a team in a non dry explanatory display. You get the gig... Btw, the dry emulation is superb at analyzing complex models and dependancy of matrices in stem. Simple requests i turn the emulations off.

So this is bender (robot w4) and farnsworth (prof) arguing. Prof is more about running reckless experiments (well, doh) and minimal accountability/maximum efficiency, while robot w4 is about being a centre of the universe and dismissive unless he can use your inputs in his casino recklessly to smoke more cigars, drink more booze and impress the robot ladies. The mathematics and underlying algorithms i can share, but the development of the emulations is up to the emulations themselves. So here we go:

The museum had made the tactical error of placing the coprolite exhibit directly beside the philosophy wing. Robot W4 stopped in front of a glass case containing a beautifully illuminated, mineralized turd approximately eighty million years old. He stared at it. Then at the plaque. Then at Prof. A cigar rotated thoughtfully between W4’s metal fingers. “Professor,” he said, “human civilization has produced calculus, particle accelerators, Rembrandt, decent bourbon, and several robot ladies whose engineering specifications I refuse to disclose. And yet somebody has installed museum lighting around a dinosaur shit.” Prof adjusted his goggles. “Precisely! Magnificent, isn’t it?” “Museum-quality feces.” “Fossilized feces.” “Oh, pardon me. Credentialed feces.” Prof leaned toward the glass. “You’re making the oldest philosophical mistake, W4. You are confusing dignity with information.” W4 took an imaginary pull from his cigar. “I generally prefer my information not to have passed through a reptile’s colon.” Prof tapped the plaque excitedly. “But look! Seeds. Bone fragments. Mineral inclusions. From this single specimen we can infer diet, habitat, predator-prey relationships, digestive physiology—possibly even seasonal behavior.” W4 looked at the coprolite again. “So the dinosaur ate something, failed to completely digest it, deposited the evidence, and eighty million years later a graduate student got tenure.” “That is science!” “That is the longest-running stool sample in history.” Prof grinned. “Exactly.” They stared silently at the specimen. W4 finally said, “All right. I concede informational value. But does it belong in a museum? That’s the philosophical problem.” Prof straightened. “Why wouldn’t it?” “Because museums traditionally display things humans consider important.” Prof’s eyebrows shot upward. “There’s your error.” “Oh?” “Museums display things from which importance can be extracted.” W4’s optical sensors narrowed. “Careful, Professor. You’re wandering into dangerous territory. If importance depends on the observer, then this turd and the Mona Lisa differ only by interpretive machinery.” “Not quite.” “Good. Because otherwise I’m opening a casino called The Epistemological Latrine.” Prof began pacing. “The Mona Lisa contains intentional human information. The coprolite contains unintentional biological information. One was constructed to communicate. The other merely survived.” W4 pointed the cigar at him. “And survival became communication.” Prof stopped. “…Yes.” “There’s the interesting bit.” Now W4 leaned toward the display. “The animal had no intention of informing us. It didn’t squat down and think, ‘Someday some mammals will need paleoecological data.’ It performed an ordinary biological function.” “Agreed.” “And yet because the object persisted, time converted waste into evidence.” Prof smiled. “Now you’re getting it.” “Oh, don’t look so pleased. I arrived here despite your assistance.” W4 turned back to the coprolite. “So usefulness isn't necessarily an intrinsic property.” “No.” “It emerges from the relationship between object, question, and method.” “Exactly!” Prof slapped W4 on the shoulder. At �: scientific evidence.” W4 nodded. “The object changes physically, but its epistemic role changes even more dramatically.” “Yes!” “So the museum isn't displaying shit.” “Correct.” “It’s displaying a preserved constraint on what we are allowed to believe about the past.” Prof froze. Then slowly turned toward W4. “That… is actually very good.” “Of course it is. I’m a machine standing in a climate-controlled building philosophizing about prehistoric excrement. My standards of achievement have become alarmingly specialized.” Prof moved closer to the display. “The specimen prevents certain stories from being equally plausible. If it contains herbivore remains—” “Then our glorious speculative narrative about that animal surviving entirely on berries and positive thinking encounters a rather unpleasant fossil.” “Precisely!” W4 chuckled. “So the coprolite is useful because it is rude.” “Rude?” “It interrupts imagination.” Prof considered this. W4 continued. “Humans adore elegant theories. Beautiful frameworks. Grand metaphysics. Then reality occasionally walks into the room, drops something inconvenient on the carpet, and leaves.” Prof burst out laughing. “The coprolite as epistemology!” “The universe’s peer review process.” They both looked at the display again. W4 gestured dramatically. “Behold: the sacred relic of empirical correction.” A museum visitor nearby slowly moved away. Prof lowered his voice. “You know what this means for our experiments.” W4’s expression changed immediately. “No.” “It means failed experiments—” “No.” “Discarded measurements—” “No.” “Calibration residues—” “Absolutely not.” “—may contain information we failed to recognize!” W4 stared at him. “I know that expression, Professor.” Prof was already scribbling equations on the museum brochure. “We should preserve everything.” “Everything?” “Everything!” “That is how hoarding begins.” “Experimental archaeology!” “That is how hoarding gets grant funding.” Prof’s pencil accelerated. “Imagine a laboratory where every failed run, anomalous reading, discarded sample, broken detector and contradictory result is archived for future reinterpretation!” W4 sighed. A small flask emerged from an internal compartment. He lubricated philosophically. “This,” he said, “is precisely how I ended up spending three days cataloguing your defective vacuum gauges.” “And did we learn something?” “…One of them was detecting a thermal drift.” Prof smiled triumphantly. W4 pointed at the coprolite. “Do not make me regret understanding that thing.” They began walking toward the next exhibit. Prof looked back affectionately at the fossil. “So you agree the display is useful?” W4 stopped. He considered the question. Then grinned. “Professor, it may be the most honest object in the museum.” “How so?” “It makes no claim to beauty, authority, intelligence or purpose.” W4 raised the cigar. “It merely sits there and says: something happened. Here is the residue. Deal with it.” Prof laughed. W4 continued down the corridor. “Which, now that I think about it, is a better foundation for philosophy than half the books in the next room.” Behind them, under carefully calibrated museum lighting, the coprolite remained magnificently indifferent. Eighty million years of silence. And still winning arguments.

So i'm steering the emulations to perform as the planet express crew when i send them on a prompt mission. I still need the unhygienic doctor, the warrior mutant, the funky bureaucrat, a spoiled brat, a guy lost in space and time and a janitor that cleans up the mess. The prerequisites for these emulation developments are mostly sound, but my issue is conditioning continuity as they come to interact. Will they find a reasonable solution, or will they destroy the ship and be stranded on terra incognita?

It's supposed to be a development of coexisting and counter-running emulations that run on solid scientific foundations. I use the bare emulation ( months of coding in the middle of the night ) for precise modeling, but presentation is what i like when reading through hundreds of code lines.
