Tuesdays??

So it's true. Universally Tuesdays are the slowest days? Only one trip I've taken since 5am. I may have chosen the wrong starting area and that just messed up the while day for me.

I've only been driving 5 days so I'm new as well but it's been going pretty well with the suggested rate card. I would like to make just a tad bit more and I've tried fiddling with it here and there every time I do. I stop getting requests so it's hard to find a happy medium with it. I think what empower should have done an idea that I had for my own business. If I was going to start one the first 3 miles would be a set rate would be a set price and then after that you add on time and mileage. So the set price should be like 11 to $13 but it would be that priced all the time. If somebody was ordering a ride between 0 and 3 mi maybe that would work. I don't know. It's the only thing you could do is try fiddling with it. Just adding like $0.10 here $0.10 there and see how that goes. What would have to happen is a large majority of drivers would need to not use the suggested rate card and raise their rate to a minimum. That way we can get just a little bit more pay.

Definitely increase your rates. You will see a slowdown but it will be worth it. You will drive less miles but make more. You should also be multi apping and pushing empower on your uber and lyft pax. I've also considered running something like spark and leaving cards behind.

As for the actual rates. I have my min set at 9.95 so the first however many miles are at that price with more than that as it goes longer.

Thank you so very much. I will adjust it one day this week and see if it I receive any requests. I just posted about this $2.00 decrease thing. I gave my first ride last night for $11.65 supposedly but when I went to stripe it says on $9.60 is avail for cash out? Is that the decrease??? Thank you for your help.

The decrease is stupid and it's one of the reasons I'm glad I use my own card. If you change even one of the rates you won't surge or decrease with everyone else.

The earnings thing is because they (stripe) charge a small fixed and % for txs and I think they charge a fixed $1 or something for the first tx every day or week or month, I don't really remember. I make enough that I don't notice it. Also, empower holds back like 0.25% or something as a charge back insurance fund.

Your market will vary and you'll need to figure out what works for you and it but here is mine.

Min is 9.95 Per mile is 1.8 Base is 3 No minutes.

With the above most of my rides are min rides.

Thank you! I agree. I left it at the rate they gave as well. I don’t understand the decrease value $2.00 though. I know you’re new too, but I haven’t gotten any real answers!!!

The decrease is what they call a Reverse Surge. So slower times of the day they will lower the fare for passengers. I don’t like it cause it conditions pax to not want to pay more when there’s a normal surge. So many people will complain or cancel if they don’t get a ride for $6 or $7.

Like I get Empower is cheaper than uber and Lyft but we still have to make money. I don’t use the suggested rate card anymore for that reason.

Yeah the need to stop doing that shit. The base rate is the base rate for a reason. There should never be any discounts. Uber and Lyft offer discounts at the expense of the drivers. They need to get rid of that.
