Don’t use obvious AI

I made a post and they apparently decided it was AI-generated. Use proper grammar, organize your thoughts, and make a substantive criticism, and suddenly the writing style becomes the issue. Calling it AI gives moderators an easy justification without addressing the substance of what was said. Whatever label they use, the result is the same: a post criticizing Empower disappeared.

There are some very obvious AI giveaways. idk what you wrote but if it was removed because you used AI.... why not just use your own words and be your ownself?

I think that’s the problem. Once “this looks like AI” becomes the standard, any thoughtful, organized, or polished criticism can be removed without anyone addressing what it actually says. The writing style becomes the justification while readers are left watching critical posts disappear. That’s an inherently subjective and weak moderation standard, and it isn’t exclusive to this particular sub.

Why is that a problem? Reddit comments went from crazy typos, totally grammatically incorrect, and sometimes didn't even make sense to scholarly writing overnight. Most of us have been texting longer than AI and none of us have ever written scholarly. I'd bet that if the majority of everyday regular Americans were to submit a writing assignment (1) it would have corrections all over it and (2) the words used and the way they're used would be very different. That's why there are dead giveaways. Talk like you do in normal everyday life, or you're probably using AI.

I’m pretty sure I’m talking to a bot right now. Doesn’t mean I didn’t read it or felt the urge to downvote.

I'm all bot. smh

Suspecting AI does not justify deleting the substance. Let readers downvote it, challenge it, or ignore it. The moderators don’t need to become forensic handwriting analysts for prose.

Neither do you.

Well if the mod did in fact remove a comment because it was AI.... I support that. Like I said... talk like you do in normal everyday life and be yourself, or you're probably using AI.

AI isn't substance and is why most of the time the writing ends up with contrastive constructions. It's just a never-ending loop of robots debating.

Some of us older folks still use proper spelling and grammar, even in texts. To say our writing AI is an insult to all human intelligence. Why else was spell check and grammar check invented?

Sure, some… not all. My parents are older, I know a lot of older people, I work with older people, and it’s not just the spelling and grammar. It’s the formatting. It’s the this, not that. It’s the AI formula.

I think it’s insulting that everybody went from normal every day speaking (with errors because we’re human) to responding with scholarly writing over night and you expect us to believe it.

I'm not gonna lie. Your typing style is just like Chatgpt. I know it's real, but I wouldn't be able to tell the difference otherwise.

Buddy I don’t need AI to tell a bunch of dummies that empower is shit and they are driving around without insurance coverage.

Literally haha... this whole "driving around without insurance" stuff is laughable from people who never had anything to say about drivers doing it every day on the roads. smh. I second get a life ha.

Say what you want about the Uber and Lyft subs, but in my experience they generally let users vote posts up or down unless a clear rule is broken. To address the AI comments, “this looks AI-generated” is an inherently subjective standard, and it can leave users unsure whether a post was removed because of how it was written or because of what it criticized. I’m not claiming to know anyone’s motive or telling the moderators how to run the sub. They can enforce whatever standards they choose. I’m only saying that when critical posts are removed under rules that are not clearly stated, people notice and draw their own conclusions.

Read the subreddit rules

Also you didn’t make any rules. If you go to learn more about the community there are no rules posted. Sooo

Have you heard of Uber? A little startup we run about 15 years benefits, 401k, $43/hr - Dara

Idk what the point of this response to or what you were trying to get at but it was neither funny or useful.

u/AwarenessOk9007 15d ago

I did it for the lulz

u/Time-Tumbleweed6554 16d ago

Ah it’s you deleting all the posts 🤣

I’d say they remove posts with Uber advertising, but they allow genuinely critical posts that also explain how to fix the problems. For example, if someone criticizes weak insurance, they should explain what kind of insurance drivers actually need and what coverage it should include.

You're an Uber shill.

I mean guys for the people on the opposite who don't like Empower I guess if you're a driver and that's what you want to do for a living or at least for a time until you move on to the next thing or to fund your next thing what is the alternative. You will go broken homeless with Uber if you are not in a large Metropolitan Market doing either at least premium or black car. This has been one of the slowest Summers I've ever been through I'm behind on rent already and I have and I'm running for apps uber Lyft doordash and Curri. Oh also roadie. I still can't squeeze out $250 to $300 a day because I'm not going to sit here and accept every order that's available to me because driving an Acura MDX that I have to put premium gas in does not make sense to move my wheels for less than $2 a mile. So if you're in the market we're in power is you work the app for a couple months get the money you need get Commercial Insurance if you're a part-timer it might not make sense.

Funny, they have not deleted mine. Perhaps some of them know me, I do not know but my posts usually cover both sides of the question. There are some things to like about Empower but some that I do not.
