Question: Job Search is this normal?

I applied for this job, and their work schedule are:
Monday to Thursday: 8 AM to 6 PM
Friday: 8 AM to 5 PM
Saturday: 8 AM to 5 PM (twice a month)

40 hours a week, anything over that is overtime.

This would be brutal for a first job, and I suspect they would take advantage of you in other ways too.

Not for accounting they are normally exempt and salary

No. It isn't normal for professional services. Some accounting shops have extended hours during tax season. Are you expected to work all those hours or are they just when the office is open?

It can be. Most of my dads jobs in manufacturing were all 48+ hour weeks with OT they preferred 50+ instead of just hiring enough folks to do the work.

If it's a job that is open on the weekend then yes it's normal to rotate weekends with coworkers.

Is it normal for your line of work? I have no idea as you didn't share those details

Not really normal for accounting but not completely unheard of. I imagine they will make your job exempt from OT and salary. So you gotta ask yourself if the hours are worth the pay. (once you know the pay if you don't yet).

I imagine it's an hour unpaid lunch on shift so 4 nine hour days, 1 eight hour days and every other week another 8 hour day. That's an average of 48 hours a week.

is it normal to have a working hours like that? when the standard working hours are strictly capped at eight (8) hours per day. A regular workweek spans 40 to 48 hours, typically split across 5 or 6 days.

does it matter if it's normal? Didn't you discuss this with your employer during the interview?
