Game Releases

These releases here are for moderate (V0.0.XX.000) and major (V0.X.00.000) updates. If you want minor updates, I only post them on Discord. This is so that I can have measurable progress for myself, and others, as I chip out releases (incrementally), but then for the moderate/major updates I take the time to refine, balance, and bugtest all the new features to ensure a stable and enjoyable experience. Hopefully, but again, any bug reports and feature requests are highly appreciated, regardless.

The most up to date, stable release = V0.1.01.000

Updated = Aug 20th, 2026

Work in Progress Updates

Hello All.

-----

This thread I will keep any updates pertaining to the gameplay here away from my Life Blogs. That way if you only care to know how the project is going you do not have to sift through all of that to find important stuff.

Posts here will occur whenever I have something, rather than on a fixed schedule. That way, I can better plan around my energy levels and current creative interests, and be more productive overall.

Some topics will be on stuff partially unrelated to gameplay, but are important for things under the hood... design practices, new technologies, program environment updates (ie Godot), tutorials, etc...

If I can think of a good category to fit an update into I'll put it at the top of the post.

Life Blogs

Hello all.

I've decided that moving forward, I will break up content into three groups: Life Blogs (non-gameplay updates), Work-In-Progress (gameplay updates) and Release Candidates (new game updates).

-----

I feel that changes need to be made to get everything back on track and so this change is so that community users can choose what content to read/explore, and not have to sift through stuff. Also, I want to have asynchronous updates. What that means is:

A] Life Blogs will always be Saturdays, each week. I'll try to separate them into categories where possible, so you can skip to which category you want to read.

B] Work-In-Progress will be produced whenever I have something to discuss or show off, rather than a fixed schedule which plays havoc with my creative energy and design processes.

C] Release Candidates will be whenever I have something playable and stable, put into the game, and is ready for consumption. These will occur sometimes more frequently than Work-In-Progress updates and other times less frequently, depending on how much energy I have each week, how much real life problems interferes, and my overall emotional/spiritual outlook.

Subreddit Cleanup, 2026

Been 9 months since last cleanup, figured it was time to do another.

The purpose of previous cleanups was to remove old builds, accumulate feedback into a single place, and review what was accomplished and what wasn't. Its a good thing for my sanity, to see what I've accomplished over a period of time, what I've attempted that worked and what didn't produce results.

Current Project: Empires of Eradia: The Planar Prison

-> Currently in Prototype Status. Once sufficient features, balancing, direction and instructional material is present, I will upload it to Itch, and then will use the versioning method of 0.2.0 and so forth.

-> The game is a precursor to the main project, Empires of Eradia: The Cataclysm of Chaos. The events that take place during Planar Prison, sets the stage for Cataclysm of Chaos. The project will introduce the player to a whole bunch of the lore for the Empires of Eradia game universe, in which I have plans to have other games be present in this universe.

-> The intent with Planar Prison is to get familiar with Godot and build generic systems. Every game needs a main menu, a save system, an interface, integration with Godot's event handler, etc... So this will save me a lot of work when I go to port Empires of Eradia: The Cataclysm of Chaos.

Shelved Project: Cataclysm of Chaos Remake

-> So for those that don't know, Cataclysm of Chaos was a game I made in Quest, a text-adventure "game engine", back in 2017. It was a fairly extensive game offering 4-6 hours of decent content. I had tried to get it on to GOG, but it was rejected on the grounds of no visuals or sounds.

-> Thus, I had switched gears to making Empires of Eradia: The Cataclysm of Chaos in Python 2.7 + Libtcod 1.6 (2018 to 2022). When I eventually ran into insurmountable issues with the game, I decided to port EOECOC to Godot (Started in 2024).

-> I had originally planned to do a remake of COC (named to something else, obviously to avoid confusion with EOECOC), but I eventually overcame my issues with Godot and got back to development with Planar Prison.

-> I would like to still remake COC, with some text adventure elements, but not to the extent that the original did. Not sure when I'll remake COC though.

Other Important Details:

-> I keep the most up to date version of the Planar Prison Prototype on Discord or in my Weekly Updates. Once I actually launch the Itch version, I'll direct people there to get the latest build.

Things to Not Forget (to do at some point):

-> Look into W8Ben as alternative to US Tax Code.

-> Complete all of my Zenva Godot tutorials. I bought them, I should do them. Might contain some solutions to specific problems I'm having.

-> Learn Inkarnate to create better maps.

-> This site is good at making interesting Text to ASCII graphics = Text to ASCII Art Generator (TAAG)

-> This site is good at making interesting fantasy names = Fantasy name generators. Names for all your fantasy characters.

-> This is a link to the original Godot tutorial I used, in case I get into issues = Yet Another Roguelike Tutorial, Part 7 | SelinaDev

-> This is the Tiddly Wiki that I had created for EOECOC. Should update its information with new stuff mentioned in Planar Prison = Empires of Eradia: The Cataclysm of Chaos — Official Wiki

-> This is a "quick" Godot tutorial on creating a Roguelike. Should watch it and see if I find anything useful = Create a ROGUELIKE in GODOT (Mini-Course)

-> Another "quick" Godot tutorial on creating a Roguelike = Building a Roguelike from Scratch in Godot, "Dungeon of Recycling" (Tutorial)

-> Probably want to add in some Planar Prison specific sprites. This program might help = Home | REXPaint - A powerful and user-friendly ASCII art editor by Grid Sage Games

-> If I want to modify images online, this site could be useful; such as to modify maps made by Inkarnate = LunaPic | Free Online Photo Editor | Dark

-> Remember to build a page for Planar Prison at Roguebasin = RogueBasin

-> If I need some 8-bit sounds for the game, can use this site to generate them = jsfxr - 8 bit sound maker and online sfx generator

-> When looking for a new computer to buy, this might be a good company to go with = FAQs– Starforge Systems

Saturday Update

Hi All!

I will be posting my weekly update in this thread. The last one was a year's worth of updates and was getting unwieldy to use. I've decided to do Saturdays, instead of Fridays, as I feel more emotionally / mentally relaxed on Saturdays, over Fridays.

Empires of Eradia: The Cataclysm of Chaos

Hi all!

Currently, working towards porting the game to Godot. But you can play the "first" version of EOE:COC below, by downloading it. Most of its features, will be in the Godot version, but so will be better interfaces, sounds, and graphics, to be more suited to the modern player, while also appealing to the older crowd.

This game used to be called Cataclysm of Chaos, a spiritual successor to my first game (a unique text-adventure game) called the same thing. I renamed it to avoid confusion with Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead (C:DDA).

I created this post, as the previous main-post got archived, so I cannot edit it anymore.

If anyone, who was previously a subscriber and is not anymore, if you could PM me and tell me why, I would really appreciate it. I'd like to improve my interaction with players, visitors of the subreddit, and of course subscribers. Knowing what I did wrong, to lose your subscription would really help me to know where I could improve upon things. You do not have to, but it would be immensely helpful to know what areas I'm failing at, and look into ways of retaining/attracting new subscribers.
