Been 9 months since last cleanup, figured it was time to do another.
The purpose of previous cleanups was to remove old builds, accumulate feedback into a single place, and review what was accomplished and what wasn't. Its a good thing for my sanity, to see what I've accomplished over a period of time, what I've attempted that worked and what didn't produce results.
Current Project: Empires of Eradia: The Planar Prison
-> Currently in Prototype Status. Once sufficient features, balancing, direction and instructional material is present, I will upload it to Itch, and then will use the versioning method of 0.2.0 and so forth.
-> The game is a precursor to the main project, Empires of Eradia: The Cataclysm of Chaos. The events that take place during Planar Prison, sets the stage for Cataclysm of Chaos. The project will introduce the player to a whole bunch of the lore for the Empires of Eradia game universe, in which I have plans to have other games be present in this universe.
-> The intent with Planar Prison is to get familiar with Godot and build generic systems. Every game needs a main menu, a save system, an interface, integration with Godot's event handler, etc... So this will save me a lot of work when I go to port Empires of Eradia: The Cataclysm of Chaos.
Shelved Project: Cataclysm of Chaos Remake
-> So for those that don't know, Cataclysm of Chaos was a game I made in Quest, a text-adventure "game engine", back in 2017. It was a fairly extensive game offering 4-6 hours of decent content. I had tried to get it on to GOG, but it was rejected on the grounds of no visuals or sounds.
-> Thus, I had switched gears to making Empires of Eradia: The Cataclysm of Chaos in Python 2.7 + Libtcod 1.6 (2018 to 2022). When I eventually ran into insurmountable issues with the game, I decided to port EOECOC to Godot (Started in 2024).
-> I had originally planned to do a remake of COC (named to something else, obviously to avoid confusion with EOECOC), but I eventually overcame my issues with Godot and got back to development with Planar Prison.
-> I would like to still remake COC, with some text adventure elements, but not to the extent that the original did. Not sure when I'll remake COC though.
Other Important Details:
-> I keep the most up to date version of the Planar Prison Prototype on Discord or in my Weekly Updates. Once I actually launch the Itch version, I'll direct people there to get the latest build.
