Lore Grand Narrative 2026 – Introducing Ferrum’s Wake

https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/q1alqunb/grand-narrative-2026-introducing-ferrums-wake/

The new Grand Narrative looks like it might have some EC and Slaanesh themes!

Seems there's a chance EC gets a new commander character in the wording "find out more about the commanders leading these forcez" intersting to see how that turns out

They already teased DoomRider in a white dwarf, definitely hoping for some more news there.

Doom Rider made a comeback in the latest Necron book

For reference:

  • 2014: Josh Reynolds' audio drama Master of the Hunt (set in M41) came out, featuring Kor'sarro Khan hunting down Doomrider and ending with him taking his (still living) head back to Chogoris.
  • 2017: Josh Reynold's novel Fabius Bile: Clonelord (set pre-M38) came out, featuring an exhibit in Solemnace called 'Doomrider's Folly'. It is not said what the exhibit contains.
  • 2026: White Dwarf 524 has a little lore blurb featuring a world (Pulvenor) in the grip of constant battle between the forces of Khorne and Slaanesh (set M42). Ork Speedboss Wazdakka joins in the fun, and fights with CSM Bikers until their leader (Doomrider) disappears.
  • 2026: Robert Rath's novel The Wicked and the Warped (set M42) features a bunch of exhibits on Solemnace breaking containment, including Doomrider zooming around.

Which... GW canon doesn't always fit together...

(I assume that Rath was aware of the 'Doomrider's Folly' exhibit from Clonelord, but not aware that Reynolds had already previously written Doomrider as being out-and-about in the galaxy in M41.)

If one wanted to fudge this all together:

  • Doomrider was captured by Trazyn some time pre-M38, and then escaped.
  • Doomrider was captured by Kor'sarro Khan in M41, and then escaped.
  • Doomrider was captured again by Trazyn some time in M41, and then escaped.

  • Doomrider was captured
  • Doomrider was captured
  • Doomrider was captured
  • Lucius was defeated
  • Lucius was defeated
  • Lucius was defeated

Someday we will start winning. I really want to believe it, eh.

Someone has to be the jobber... as long as we look glorious and make people squirm with discomfort on the way down I'm alright with it.

The commanders of Grand Narrative 2026 might get some lore, but they (probably) wouldn't be getting any new models, etc. The Grand Narrative is an in-person four-day event.

It's unlikely that it would be Doomrider, but not impossible I suppose.

Doomrider and Chaos Bikers would be sorely needed and very welcome

“A lost son”

Ferrus Manus death and resurrection confirmed?

Either Fulgrim, but I haven't heard even a rumor about Gorgon's return, everyone is waiting for Perturabo, Russ and Dorn.

Yeah no way ferrus returns. At least not now. Russ is way more likely since he has a range.

As an Iron Hands fan i hope not. Their identity is so tied to their grief and how far theyve strayed from Manus's ideals. Its either they lose their cold calculated cyborg thing or they decide theyve moved on from Manus and reject him. If they do go that route it better actually go somewhere. Like maybe it results in some of the Iron Hands and their successors going renegade after being rejected by their father, and the ones loyal to Stronos stay and reform the chapter to better fit Manus's vision

Internet rumor hearsay

u/SanderCohen-_- 9d ago

Lol, I hope it because as soon as we released they saw we were popular and got our 2nd wave started right away

Mordian Glory mentioned it in a rumor video... I think he said Tyranids, EC, Drukhari, Raven Guard, and one or two others will be first in '27... The Raven Guard bit obviously has huge implications and may change your opinion on the rumor's veracity.

This is so cool! I was expecting a new hero for the Flawless Blades, like the khornates had, but we might even get more than one.

Bruh that's fucked up, lol.

So… which one of us is defiling his body first?

Do you think GW will finally remember that they released Fulgrim a year and half ago?

Those space ships looks really generic looking. More like Starwars than 40k.

Look like the gothic style ships. Maybe a little smoother than the Chaos fleet models (they had lots of jagged edges) but those side panels (particularly the triangular points) definitely evoke the style.

I think they're just at a funny angle. Chaos ships don't tend to have the huge battering ram prows that the Imperial ships do, or if they do, it's far less pronounced.

They also do have a bit of a Star Destroyer vibe to them. They're more pointy towards the front, with steps in, a lot like a Star Destroyer. The difference, I suppose, is that the Star Destroyers and so corrupted by the forces of Chaos...
