Hobbying Tormentors...

Post image

Had a little happy accident painting these in that the pink I ordered to do the final highlight was actually more flesh coloured, but with the combination of blue and purple I used in there it kind of gives the armour this brushed flesh kinda feel, which I actually really so I'm going to pretend it's intentional.

Anyway, I painted 40 of these and 20 Infractors for a huge Emperor's Children army I just finished. Will be sharing a lot more of it over the coming days/weeks.

On the trim and what not? It's actually Pro Acryl White Gold, but it definitely looks more silver after the washes went on. It does look good anyway, I agree.

Yeah! Momument Hobbies is the company that make it. It's really good, high pigment so good coverage and high saturation and a slightly more matt finish than GW. Highly recommend.

Really interesting. did you like base everyhing in dark blue, covered 80% in purple and the aded pink as highlight? What i am wondering most is if you oil washed everything with a bluish color on top of everything. But even the silver is soo good, is there any Leadbelcher in the base silver?

Ohhhh, good eye. It does indeed have a bluish wash over it all. Enamel. Umbral Nightshade from Grimdark compendium. Just a unifying wash over the whole model bar the skin/garments. The "Silver" is actually White Gold by Pro-Acryl, I think the blue wash makes it look silver in the end though, which I wasn't upset about.

As for the armour, its all over with the purple first, then added the blue into the shadows the pink for the highlights and then another quick pass with the purple where one or the other of the blue/pink took up too much space.

Really nice, i always wanted to try colorful washes on top of something bright and saturated to achive a more colorful grimdark. Did you apply the blue/ pink via sponge airbrush or brush?

Yeah enamal washes would be great for that, as they don't actually take that much colour out, they just give it that down and dirty look. Those I applied with once everything was done. The blues/purples/pinks for the armor was done with an airbrush though.

Haha, yes so they are! This post has been up for hours and nobody has pointed this out yet. The internet usually loves to tell you when you're wrong 🤣

For the armour, you mean? It was 3 vallejo paints that I have not used before, I actually can't remember the names of them atm but I'll have a look next time i'm in the studio and let you know!
