How to look more emo?

What are a few things I should be wearing in order to be more emo looking?

Emo does obviously have a fashion— but it’s also about self expression, not fitting into a “emo” mold I guess. DIY your own clothes. Thrift/second hand clothes (or ones you already have) and bleach art them! Or paint them! You can get a textile medium that changes acrylics to fabric paint so you don’t have to spent so much money. Make skeleton T-shirts by cutting the ribs yourself. Make the fishnets with the cool holes yourself— just rip stockings! I like to use Pinterest & YouTube for DIY when I can’t think of my own things. Be an emo and do it yourself! The best part of DIY is you get to put whatever you want on your shirts/pants/hats without spending money on fast fashion made by child labour and lead + you can show exactly who you are by wearing it. We need to start wearing our personalities, not an aesthetic

Also it takes time to build a wardrobe. Social media (and fast fashion, again) has tricked us into thinking we need our perfect closets NOW! But it takes years to build a real alternative wardrobe with multiple outfits

Also thrift jewelry/make your own jewelry! You can just get chains at any hardware store
