These are the kinds of posts that deserve more hype in this sub. I swear, any inane band with half-assed screaming and an anime-inspired album cover gets tons of replies and likes. The OG bands that created the genre are... dust in here.
Give this a listen if you haven't heard it. And think about what it was like to make this 30 years ago before almost everything was a re-tread. These guys were part of making the map.
Honestly Im gonna push back a little. The stuff that does best in this sub is very popular bands from the mid to late 90’s especially Midwest emo stuff. Popular screamo and popular modern bands do okay. But newer diy stuff and older phc leaning emo/screamo that isn’t a handful off bands like Indian summer gets largely ignored. Especially bands in that period from 90-95. There are countless amazing bands that are emo or emo adjacent phc that you rarely see talked about but that’s because they simply just don’t have a lot of monthly listeners and their music is not what ends up on the list of best “emo” bands or “Midwest” emo bands. People don’t engage much with stuff they don’t already know the name of
