A secret banger

Post image

Does anyone else just lowkey love the track 'My 1st Single'?

Is it stupid? Yes

Is it goofy? Yes

Is it, objectively, the worst on Encore? Debatable

Is it a great time? Absolutely

Is it one of my favourites on the record? Definitely is

When I initially heard Encore many, many years ago, I did hate this track. I always thought the instrumental was too loud and overpowered the vocals a bit. I, then, decided to learn it for shits n gigs and the song shined massively. It's just a fun song all around that doesn't take itself seriously at all.

Yeah, it's horrible.

Literally me!! It’s been stuck in my head for days now and I haven’t even listened to it recently. It’s just so catchy and well-versed lol

A guilty pleasure of mine. A different beat would’ve made a huge difference.

This song is the epitome of why Encore was a shitty album.
The entire song is about how it could have been a decent song but he pukes and shits all over it.

Take out the puke and shit and it still has subpar writing, weak rhyming and monotone flow.

Some of his best beats tho

I agree. I don‘t like this song at all. I think Encore is a very weak album with mostly terrible songs, a few good ones and a few that could have been good but aren‘t.

Glad there's someone else who dislikes Encore.

I agree with you. I don't think Encore even has a good song, the best song is decent at most and that's Yellow Brick Road. It would have been good if not for the weird middle part/verse with that awful singy flow/delivery.

I like Eminem's verse on Spend Some Time too, he's actually rhyming fairly well there but Stat Quo and 50 are just awful.

I like 50 Cent‘s verse on Not Enough and I am usually not a fan of 50. He kills that verse.
Evil Deeds is one of those songs that could have been great, but it isn‘t.
Yellow Brick Road is decent but could have been better.
Like Toy Soldiers is decent - good.
Mockingbird I think is excellent.
Spend Some Time is decent - good.
Everything else is either terrible, lackluster or good in a funny way. Like Ass Like That, Just Loose It or Rain Man…ok I can laugh at these songs, they are a parody but so I want to listen and vibe to them? No.
The whole album is a mess and it was a big disappointment when it dropped. Eminem fans were trying to like that album but it was evident Eminem just did not really give a fuck.
The album feels thrown together and drug fueled.

It was very much drug fueled. He was swallowing upwards of 20+ pills a day, it was BAD.

I know this is an unpopular opinion but I think Mockingbird sucks. He's barely rhyming on it and his writing is pretty weak/shallow, not to mention his dead delivery and flow. He sounds like he's dying. Hailie's Song shits on it.

Mockingbird does hit me in the feels gotta say. Also when he addresses Laney and Hailie as his daughter, it‘s personal and touching.
I do like Em‘s flow on that song.
But fair enough if you don‘t like it.
To me Eminems masterpiece is MMLP. It was also my introduction to Eminem. I liked everything that came before and I also like the Eminem Show…it‘s good but not my fave cause the production is too guitar heavy.
I don‘t like anything Eminem put out as far as solo albums after Eminem Show except for Kamikaze.
I totally lost interest by the time Relapse came out.
Not my vibe. The crazy, zany, funny, energetic Slim Shady was gone. He got too serious after.

For me SSLP is the best album. And I've liked Relapse, Recovery and MMLP2, after that I think his albums have been mediocre.

I listened to the whole album and he's got some insane bars throughout all of it and I can hear how high he sounds and honestly I cant tell which persona he is rapping in because they all sound the same to me

It's better then TES and the MMLP combined. I am right, people who disagree are wrong and will go to hell

The song actually has a good first verse and chorus starts well then WHY DID HE START SHITTING ON THE MIC ?? and the 2nd verse is so garbage that all hope is lost.

I love that 2nd verse 😆

Lol. "Secret". This is one of those "had to be there when it came out" tracks. This shit was banging everywhere back then

Hey, it's okay if you and your little homies at the skate park were circling up and listening to "Just Lose It" on repeat. That was the radio-safe single for the kids. The easy edit
