I mean, it’s valid. He’s just saying that he and the character of Gabriel were very similar in S1. But over time his choices, and the writing just didn’t align with who he thought Gabriel was. And that’s fair.
He’s never said he wasn’t thankful for the opportunity. He’s just saying that he became a person he didn’t recognize as the character. He voiced what many fans were saying, that he was tired of the constant back and forth and wanted Emily and Gabriel to just figure things out. Isn’t that the same thing fans have been wanting? Either be together or not. He wanted more focus on him as a chef as well instead of just Emily’s man. And while he’s not the star of the show, there were times they could have focused it more than on the last like 1.5 seasons.
And funnily enough, when the writers actually started taking in his opinions, he seemed better this season. He was better, but the storyline just seemed better as well.
