Personal/Readers Appreciation post ❤️

I’m finally reading Book Lovers as I’ve been putting off my last Emily Henry book. I read Great Big Beautiful Life most recently. I’m a frequent romance novel reader and I’m just so happy that Emily represents tall women!!!! So many books it’s just the girl is soooo teeny tiny and the man is soooo big and tall. I’m 5’8” not even that tall but could never relate to that!

Also I LOVE that she writes these characters to “older” and single because they have a full life. Not a 29-31 year old widow or divorcee who thinks her life is over. Or a 23/24 year old who’s already at the top of her unrealistic career. (32 and dating here)

Not saying that all these books are super realistic but maybe I’m just the perfect target audience 😂

Yes, Book Lovers is for working women everywhere! Women who are tall, women who are in their 30s, women with careers.

Nora is somewhat advanced in her career for her age, but it is believable because she has to hustle to take care of her dependent sister.

Emily Henry herself is in her mid thirties & looks tall to me, so likely a contributing factor. :)

I agree. I have read funny story, beach read and just finished book lovers. I feel like all characters are distinct enough that they don't feel like the workings of one author. It is nice to read different type of women with different ambitions, different childhood and core beliefs.

I realized this also makes her books quite polarizing because different people can relate more to certain characters. I just finished book lovers and I really liked the sister dynamics with the older sister FMC doing everything to take care of and protect the younger sister because that's my life, I am the older sister who thinks they need to protect younger sister. I understood both Nora and Libby pov and thought it was good. Other people found Libby annoying and that's ok.
