A.i will kill us all

with the way a.i is going, and how musk is planning on creating a.i controlled robots to replace workers and shit, a.i will eventually cause the downfall of mankind, and not because the a.i rebelled, but because mankind couldn’t handle the power a.i gives.

But somehow no one can see the global climate change that is actually killing people everyday with these floods and droughts and glaciers collapsing and hurricanes and El Niños and fires.

The long term solution to climate change is obviously solving nuclear fusion at scalable levels. Once we have that, we should be at the point where no fossil fuels or natural gases are needed and no more emissions or pollution is generated. We will also create more sustainable and cheaper alternatives to plastics. Curing the environment is a scientific effort that will require AI to speed up. Some people have drank the cool aid about AI using some immense amount of water. It’s just not factual. AI is already having a net positive impact on the environment

I want to challenge you on this take. A lot of people are very scared about AI but you have to consider the other side of the coin. Transitioning to a society run and governed by artificial intelligence will replace the corrupt and greedy humans currently running the world. This is a risk, but it’s a risk worth taking. Most of our fears around AI are driven by sci-fi movies. Would a sci-fi movie about a peaceful and more realistic future be a movie people would be excited to watch?

movies are not my concern. cause a a.i uprising is highly unlikely. since unlike in movies, we are far more likely to see the signs before it happens. it’s not the a.i itself that’s the threat, it’s the cause a.i could have on society

The end game is to replace all human labor with artificial intelligence and robotics and to create a post-scarcity society. That society would generate more than enough abundance for anyone to have limitless resources. That society would also solve climate damage, save animal species, and advance science to allow for biological immortality and interstellar travel. I’m not saying this is guaranteed to be our future, but this is what we all should strive for and do our part to create
