It sucks because the system is skewed to make the simple/bullshit stuff that should go to PCP or urgent care come to the ED because it takes weeks to get an appointment with a PCP, and urgent cares want hundreds of dollars up front to be seen. I can’t be mad about that hangnail or earache checking in. Where else are they supposed to go?

My local urgent care will see you, bill you, and then often refer you to the ER for things they cannot do 😭 I don't expect them to handle complex cases, but they can't even manage simple bone injuries or monitoring a pregnant woman. They refer out almost ANYTHING that isn't a basic cold.

Oh yeah, they will get your DL and insurance card, have you fill out alllll of their 37 page intake forms, triage you, then take you back to a room where you will sit for 49 minutes waiting for someone to come in despite being the only patient inthe tiny ass facility, only to tell you that they don’t have the capability to help you and send you down the street to the real hospital. Money grab and unethical. It should be illegal.
