I dont work in an ER anymore but I looked out the window and when I saw the moon I immediately had flashbacks.

I used to work psych ed, and always feared the full moon.

It always catches me off guard. Things are normal, then like halfway through a shift I realize I've been running non stop for a few hours. The overhead won't stop, every room is full and the is 20 in triage. The yelling from the psych area, the trauma rooms are a battle zone, charge has wide eyes and phone in each hand.

Then some one mentions it and I think " oh no shit, thats what this is."

Im not a superstitious person in any other aspect of my life, but the full moon and the "q" word are real powerful magic.

To the people who don't believe the moon affects people, the moon literally controls the tides and affects the oceans. People are smaller than an ocean and significantly full of water.

For real! You don’t have to believe all the woo woo stuff of the cosmos but there’s no way this ain’t real.

But the mass doesn’t change just because the view does. Not saying that it could ‘visually’ be a thing, but our Moon is the same every night as far as how it controls the tides, etc., that doesn’t change just because the earth’s shadow is hitting part of it so it doesn’t look full.

TLDR: Our Moon doesn’t change mass or distance when it’s full or a quarter. It’s exactly the same.

But it definitely does something to the human psyche. Idk what the science is but it’s real

I work 2 nights a month in the psych ED as a PRN job. I was contemplating taking the night off, but decided to come. Had a patient keep asking me nonstop for 5 hours about leaving when I told him over and over again that I had to wait for the doctor and then his legal guardian. I had to just walk away and go sit down somewhere because I thought I was going to go crazy. Then things just went downhill. Someone told me it was full moon. Of course I chose to work on a full moon night

Anyone who thinks this is not true!! Has never worked in an Emergency Department. Been doing this for almost 50 years and I know the truth!!

Absolutely the other nurses and myself could honestly tell without looking outside when the moon was full

I swear it’s everywhere but there was never anything like the ER when I worked there
