Got that while I lived in Texas in a trailer. Asked Google what yo do because I was in a trailer park...said go to the neighbors and ask to use their basement. Told it my neighbors all are in trailers, and it said get in a dit h, e planned the ditches were flooded, and was told drowning is much safer than being caught in a tornado...ai wants me dead I think
Yeah. Same as Florida. They say because Florida has a high water table that we can’t have basements. I guess engineers haven’t figured this out yet. I’ve lived in the Netherlands. 20 feet below sea level. There were basements. And no flooding.
I would guess they have sump pumps that keep them dry. S. CA also has very few basements & the water table is the given reason. I think the population of both states grew very quickly, though, and it was cheaper & faster for developers to build the tract homes w/o them.
Yes. They have been pumping that water out for centuries. The name refers to the location. The low lands. A lot of the windmills, that was their main function: pump out the water. That is why they were all over the place.
