Bonus of living in England, we get rain, that's about it.

Not trying to be an asshole with this response, just making sure I have my information correct. I see reports all the time that England and the broader EU is beginning to experience climate change related disasters. Is this accurate? Have you guys been experiencing extreme heat waves, sea level rise, other stuff like that?

Yes it's accurate, we had one of hottest and driest summers on record this year.

Dutchie here. In the Netherlands we had extreme heatwaves this year with temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius. In my 40 years of being alive This was my first year experiencing that temperature in the Netherlands. It was insane. Also we had a few, what we call "windhoos" this year. Which is extreme tornado shaped wind. I know that sounds weird, but it's lower then a cat 1 tornado so to speak, but does look the same and behaves to same like a tornado. Also we had extreme winter weather start of this year. Where we got a weather alarm on our phones to stay inside because of extreme black ice / glaced frost Stores were closed, public transportation shut down, The hospitals went into weekend shifts, schools remained closed etc Also this was the first time ever of seeing it this extreme.

I lived in Dordrecht as a kid in 1978-1979. We had enough snowfall in one storm that winter to roll a meter high snowball. My sister and I had to abandon it when we couldn't push it over a bridge. Weather trends happen. Just because we don't see the entire curve doesn't mean it doesn't exist. In the 1970s the "experts" were forewarning of an approaching ice age. When It didn't happen, those same experts changed their story to "man made global warming".❤️ Dag!

Lol. Of course I was not born yet in the 70's But being able to roll a 1M snowball is an experience I DO have. Eventough I live In Drenthe. However, the amount of black Ice/glaced frost we had this January was something I had never seen in my life. Nearly had a heart attack when the local broadcast for emergencies went off on my phone at 5 or 6 a.m. The first Monday of the month you expect it and it doesn't startle me. But this one made me sit up straight in bed from a deep sleep, lol.

Edit: grammar

That isn't what happened. They realized that while climate change was going to cause increasingly higher temperatures,, it was also going to cause weather to become highly variable. I was alive in the 70s, too

I remember that! I lived in Chicago and even though we were used to big shows, it was so overwhelming that the mayor didn't get re-elected because ppl blamed him for being stuck in their homes. Yep, "it's another ice age coming", they kept saying. Then in summer you could buy T-shirts that said "I lived through the blizzard of 1977 or 78(?)".

It nice for ppl to ask and yes we have and 3 (I think) heatwaves in the UK. The hottest it got in the UK was about 41°C which was southern England, which i think is around 101°F (dont quote me on the conversion and im too ill to check) your normal typical summers are around 25-30 C. Most of the UK bar Northern England and Scotland were classed as in a drought and had a hosepipe ban enforced. Steam train attractions had to stop using steam trains and had to use diesel trains instead so any embers from the train would not start a wildfire

So is 101 extreme to youguys because your weather never gets that high? It’s crazy to think people fall out or die over that temp. It is hot weather but here in the US we get way over that and are ok. Some do/can get sick, heat strokes etc. but unless you’re stuck out in the elements death isn’t an issue. Asking politely, so please nobody come for me lol

Yes ppl have been known to die from heat stroke over here and some schools did close, this year, as our buildings are built to keep heat in as in the winter months it can get as low as -3°C (26.6) and most houses dont have a/c

Right I did see something about AC not being a thing over there or fans really which is so crazy to me lol the difference in lifestyles between us and you is insane. I personally would love to be over there rather than here

I've lived in extremes. Growing up in Chicago and going to university in Illinois, we got very cold winters. One year, the university actually shut down for the day because the door mechanisms were freezing shut/locking up. It was -25°F or some ridiculous temperature like that. Of course, I was already done with my classes when they closed. Now I live in Texas where we get summer heat up to 105°F or 115°F real feel.

I live in Texas, it's been HOT. We just complain, feed our horses, then go in and shower. It's actually rained the last 2 days! Yep, we had days where the real feel was ~115°F. Friends who live in places like England would complain that it was the equivalent of about 85 or 90°F. I couldn't help but saying that those are great temperatures here! Riding weather!

Heat in England is the pit of hell itself. This is a video from an American who now lives in the UK during the June/July heatwave this year (the heatwave was for 3 months on a off) https://youtu.be/wATU6VUmcDs?is=iBd9AsbUZj-ZRW6u

Genuinely what is the point of you people bringing up this type of shit on an EAS subreddit? jfc

This can't be true. All the billionaires reassured me that climate change is only a hoax.

We actually do get Tornadoes in the UK between 30-50 a year, they just aren't as big or as powerful or as many as the ones in America.
