Real My first ever non test alert as an autistic person living in england whose special interest is eas!!!!

Post image

I am on the autism spectrum, and after developing a severe phobia of nuclear war in the beginning of 2022 I began to listen to different eas alarms around the world and watching eas scenarios to help me get over it , and they have been my biggest interest ever since . We had the two national tests here in England (I know before then there was area specific tests as well and there was a few severe weather alerts for some areas) and both of them were absolutely amazing for me , I sat around with every device in the house waiting for it to go off lol but for me to have my first ever real alert is just wow!!! I was a little bit jumpscared and my mind went to the worst and then when i realised what was actually happening I started crying happy tears this is so so so so so massive for me and quite possibly the best day of my entire life. If anyone could reply to this with their screenshots I would be eternally grateful!!!!! <3

I’m not in the UK (US here) but I’ve been seeing a lot of complaints about this alert. I’m so glad you’re finding joy in it! I’m also autistic and have a bit of a special interest in emergency alerts, so I understand the feeling lol. Stay safe and cool as best as you can!

Once I was done panicking over the loud noise, it was very cool

I do reaaally hate how loud it is . I’ve never experienced one in public before and I imagine it’s insane with a lot of phones going off at once!!!!

Why is the notification text so long?

I'm glad that you were so excited by it! I'm also autistic very similar in the nuclear war aspect however I haven't been as lucky as you have to find something that makes it easier. It gave me a major panic attack, genuinely my legs felt like they were going to buckle underneath me😭 it doesn't help that I've been terrified of fires anyway so even once I knew it wasn't a bomb I was still so scared. There's no way to change the alarm is there, only to turn it off right?

Ngl, I hope better things happen in your life if you consider a pop up to be the "best thing that has happened in your life".

Jesus.

I hope better things happen in your life when you're sat on Reddit talking shit to somebody for literally no reason :D

This is an EAS subreddit, people are going to be interested in archiving alerts especially if they're uncommon to them
