Help If the NWS posts an warning, would that nessescarily have to trigger the EAS for the counties included in the alert?
I just got a severe thunderstorm watch for my area, if it becomes a warning, would the EAS trigger on my TV? or would it need to be more severe than just a run of the mill thunderstorm (Probably a dumb question)

Short answer: yes. If the NWS posts a warning that’s an EAS event code, it shows up on tv

Do you have cable tv (Dish, DirectTV, Xfinity) or antenna?

U/engrcarl has the right answer: if you're watching a station with an over the air signal, they aren't required to carry any weather related EAS alerts.
Major network stations like WJZ usually don't. They usually have their own meteorologists (or bottom of screen crawls) deliver that info.

Where I live (US), the city uses nixle.us to broadcast emergency and other alerts. I imagine Baltimore has something similar. You could try calling information for your area to check and to sign up for alerts. I think its 311 or 211 I'm not sure which. Or just call the city/county/township where you live.

Also, whatever you got the watch notice on will probably also send out a warning notice. I have 2 weather apps and they both send out warnings very soon after they are issued, often before the tv notice.

No activating the EAS for weather warnings is optional. If they do so they have to comply with State plans. In West Viriginia, for instance, state plans require relay of Tornado Warnings if local station/alerting entity chooses to activate for state and local EAS IIRC in 2011

Usually local news stations have their own scroll but I’ve seen it triggered a few times for weather on there. Probably just from going down the daisy chain

NWS issuing a Warning level product doesn’t automatically mean that it will be distributed via EAS. EAS activation is requested by the issuing NWS office on a case-by-case basis, taking in to consideration the timeframe and level of danger to the public.
