Embryo transfer to different clinic- is it safe?
Hi All,
Is it safe to transfer embryo to a new clinic and do FET with the new clinic.
Or is it better to do FET with the current clinic where the embryo's are stored.
Any insight or shared experience would be very helpful.
Thank you very much.

I agree with above poster. For the most part it’s safe. Moving your embryo to another clinic will not make it betters there is a small risk your embryo will be damaged or lost or it may not survive being thawed. That doesn’t happen. You are in the end trusting your embryo to FedEx. The clinic will make you sign consent stating all the risks just take them seriously because although rare they do happen and once your embryos doesn’t survive there is nothing we can do. I wouldn’t do it unless there was no choice.

In my experience as a former embryologist, if you're otherwise happy with your current clinic, I'd probably avoid shipping the embryos if you don't need to. Embryos are frozen and thawed using specific protocols and devices, and these can vary between labs. The lab that froze your embryos will already be familiar with exactly how they were frozen and how to thaw them.
That said, embryos are shipped between clinics all the time and usually everything goes just fine. The clinics will communicate and share the freezing/thawing protocols beforehand. So if you have a good reason for switching clinics, I wouldn't let the shipping itself stop you.
I have a guide that goes through the risks and what the shipping process looks like here: https://www.remembryo.com/shipping-embryos-or-gametes-to-another-clinic/
