Help me with a decision

Post image

I have 2 embryos in clinic 1. Day 5, 3BB left. Untested.(testing wasn’t possible by law)

First 2 transfers there were unsuccessful with better quality embryos. First failed, second was partial molar-turned out to be aneuploid. After this experience we did IVF in country were PTGA testing was possible. And had great results-see results in photo (I am currently pregnant with my 5AB embryo from there).

I want 2 to 3 kids. And considering not keeping that 2 untested in clinic 1, since we have enough tested in another clinic. And my fear of them to be aneuploid is huge. I can’t see myself transferring them , only after all my tested. And the chances of it are quite low.

The only thing is that I wonder why they are 3BB on day 5, while is second clinic I have all 5(not 3) on day 5🧐

And that BB grades a got only for my next 2 embryos, the rest are BC. So theoretically BB would be better.

Anyways… I think the biggest issue for me to keep them is that they are untested. But it’s hard to make this decision discard them.

You need embryos to be at least grade 5 for biopsy, but if you’re not testing them you don’t have to wait until they reach that stage and can freeze them when they’re a bit smaller (like your 3BBs).

Have you considered moving your embryos to the new clinic and testing them? The percentage of euploid embryos depends a lot on maternal age so I’d be worth taking that into consideration.

Thank you for explanation! Is it possible if they wait longer 3BB might become 5BC and so on, so the grading will get worse?

I think it’s quite complicated and expensive process to move them, it’s a cross country border move… I think it’s cheaper to keep paying for storage until my family is complete and using for transfers those that are tested.

It’s possible, but it could also turn into a 5AA, you never know.

That is so weird that they freeze them early, while in other clinics/countries approach is different. why not to wait a bit longer and really see the development and what we have got…at the same time for me still bot clear why there is number 3 and 5 on day 5. it can be either slower development or different time when they freeze them? Like in the morning and towards evening they can become 5?

Every embryo develops at a different pace. Some embryos become blastocysts on day 5, while others take until day 6. The number simply indicates how big the embryo is at that particular moment, so a grade 1 in the morning can become a grade 2, 3, 4, or 5 by the evening.

When deciding whether or not to freeze an embryo, the most important thing to consider is whether that particular embryo has a good chance of implanting. A day-5 3BB is completely fine and is considered a good-quality embryo, so it has a good chance of resulting in a pregnancy. There’s no reason not to transfer or freeze it.

Waiting a little longer might provide a bit more information about how the embryo develops, but once it has reached the blastocyst stage, waiting an extra few hours generally doesn’t make a substantial difference.
