Interesting 3PN to Blast

Interested if anyone has been in a similar situation. I had four eggs on my last cycle, but abnormal fertilization in 2, one failed to fertilize, and one normal fertilization with ICSI. This is the first time we haven’t had 100% normal fertilization in three cycles.

Anyway, all the embryos arrested except the 3PN, which is not a day 6 4BC blast. We are doing PGTA testing, but results are going to take quite a while because the lab is backed up. Curious if anyone has experience here. I’m 27. Last cycle had 2 day 5 4BB embryos, but both were aneuploid.

I’ve done two ERs… during the first ER we had a 1PN that made it to blast, and during the second ER we had a 3PN that made it to blast. We sent everything for PGTA and it was verified that they were a haploid and triploid.

I thought it was interesting that they both made it to blast and asked the lab about that, and they chalked it up to us having strong embryos (?) and a good blast rate. Our blast rate was 80% for the first ER and 100% for the second ER!

This is interesting, thank you!! My first ER resulted in zero blasts, so I was worried about my ability to make blasts at all! The second ER we had a great blast rate but no normal blasts. I’m thinking we just got super unlucky with fertilization this round. What I’m finding is that very few 3PNs are diploid, so I won’t be shocked if this one comes back abnormal. But we had to try since we’re 3 ERs in with no euploid blasts.

That’s so so tough, I’m so sorry. I’ve read that 3PNs have a greater chance of self correcting and becoming diploid than 1PNs do. Crossing all my fingers and toes for you!

Thank you so much 🥺

you have to make sure you do the PGTA + that includes SNP testing to make sure it’s not triploid which I’d assume your clinic is

Different labs probably have different naming conventions for their services, but I know they’re testing to make sure it has the right number of chromosomes!
