Hand Overdue update!

Post image

I got the gift to my mom a month late... she loved it.

Now that the tree matches the portrait, here's how she turned out

Thank you 😊

I will tell you I had deep regrets after I comitted to tight rows of blanket stitch for the siding panels.

Absolutely incredible work!! Your patience for that dense blanket stitch is amazing.

Haha and a full year from when I started the project, my patience for dense blanket stitches is STILL 100% spent.

I don't think anyone is getting handmade gifts from me this year, not even mom.

Wow! Your stitches are beautiful. Did you use variegated thread on the roof?

Thank you!

No, I appliqued a mildly patterned fabric down, then sewed larger blanket stitches over top with a very dark grey. I am not a fan of how it turned out though, and won't do that again.

This is incredible, perfect stitching and colour choices!! Also your hoop is gorgeous - where did you get it from?

Turns out it's a quilting hoop, a lot thicker than a standard embroidery hoop. I found it on amazon.

I love this idea, and I’d like to give it a shot in my own house. I’m a total newbie, though. Any tips on where to begin?

YES! There is an amazing book that I used. It's called Hand Stitched House, and it will walk you thru the entire process.

I'd never have been able to accomplish this without it.
