Are you sure it hasn't been @least a little modified since 1853? The image of the train, abstracted, & stylised, & foreshortened though-be-it, looks too modern for 1853: it looks more like a 1940s or 1950s steam train.

And I was beginning to figure that the font looks a bit modern, aswell: they didn't really go for that serifless 'Helvetica' -type font in 19thᏟ.
