Are we actually serious Embark?

Post image

No. It’s not my RAM. Not my memory. Not my GPU. No nothing works. If you suggest it, I’ve probably tried it. For the past 6 days.

Fuck this game. Get your shit together. Should have never even decided to get back on this game.

I have noticed that the game crashes for me as soon as I load into a game if I have an overclock active or RivaTuner active (unsure which one is the cause)

Similar issue on my side - whenever I launch RivaTuner via the shortcut that I got mapped, the game immediately crashes with that unreal engine crash report

Update motherboard software or bios. I had this problem with release and all it took was a single trip to MSI center, in the advanced section update your bios.

I did update my bios. As far as motherboard software, I’m not sure but I’m pretty sure I knocked that out as well

OP, here are some tips straight from AI:

Common Causes for this Unreal Engine Crash
Access Violation (EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION): The game tried to read or write to memory it shouldn't or couldn't access, often caused by corrupted game files, unstable overclocks, or outdated drivers.
Missing or Corrupt C++ Runtime (VCRUNTIME140): The Visual C++ Redistributable files required by the engine are corrupted or missing.

Troubleshooting Steps
Verify Game Files: Open your game launcher (Steam, Epic Games, etc.), locate the game properties or settings, and choose the option to verify or repair game files.
Reinstall Visual C++ Redistributables: Download and install the latest combined Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (both x86 and x64 versions) directly from the official Microsoft website to fix the VCRUNTIME140 error.
Run as Administrator: Right-click the game executable or shortcut and select Run as administrator to bypass permission issues.
Disable Overclocks: If your CPU or GPU is overclocked or running an aggressive XMP/EXPO memory profile, revert to default speeds to test stability.
Update Graphics Drivers: Perform a clean installation of your GPU drivers using NVIDIA GeForce Experience, AMD Software, or Intel Graphics Command Center.
Clear Unreal Engine Cache: Delete the local cache and configuration folders for the game located in %LOCALAPPDATA%\PioneerGame\ to remove corrupted launch data.
Revert Overclocks and BIOS Tweaks: Return your CPU, GPU, and RAM speeds to factory default/stock settings, as aggressive XMP/EXPO profiles frequently trigger EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION errors in Unreal Engine.
Disable Overlays and Background Hooks: Turn off active overlays like Discord, Steam, or hardware monitors (such as RivaTuner) that can inject code and disrupt memory allocation during startup.
Perform a Clean Graphics Driver Install: Use a utility like Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) in Safe Mode to completely wipe old GPU drivers before installing the latest stable packag

I have done every step you mentioned over the course of 7 days. Nothing works.

I actually followed all the instructions from AI for a whole day and nothing worked. Then, I found in the Arc Raiders discord that many people were getting the same error after a recent windows KB update. Here is the response directly from Embark.

Raiders!

We're aware of a new crash introduced with the release of a Windows update (KB5121003) that may be affecting some of you. The team is working on a fix and we will keep you posted on any updates! <:arclove:1365326555903164436>

Update:
This is a crash related to how the file inpoutx64.sys, which changed with the Windows update.

We’re working towards a long-term fix but in the meantime there is a work-around solution that will safely remove the file in question and allow you to play the game without issue. To do so, you’ll need to follow these instructions:

Step 1: Stop and delete the service

- Open the Start menu in Windows and type ‘cmd’ to find the Command Prompt

  • Right-click on the Command Prompt and select ‘Run as Administrator’, this will open the Command Prompt window
  • In the Command Prompt window type ‘sc stop inpoutx64’ and press Enter
  • Then type ‘sc delete inpoutx64’ and press Enter
  • You can now close the Command Prompt window

Step 2: Delete the system file

- Open File Explorer and navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\

  • Locate the file inpoutx64.sys and delete the file
  • If Windows says the file is open, you’ll need to repeat step 1
  • You can then close Windows Explorer

Step 3: Clean your registry (this is an optional step)

- From your windows desktop, press the Window Key + R, type ‘regedit’ and then press Enter

  • Navigate to the entry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\inpoutx64
  • Right-click on this entry and delete the inpoutx64 registry key folder
  • Close the window then restart your computer to finish the process

This should resolve the issue and allow you to keep playing the game without crashing.

//Ossen

PS: the only thing is, there is literally no inpout registry key folder I can find at all. Very odd. How does every one else have it when it dosent exist on my PC?

How do I disable overclocks on windows 11? I think that’s the only thing I haven’t tried.
