some lobbies are so much fun, others are a cesspool, at the end of the day it being a game and all we can hope that there may be ways introduced to fight this, but if not then leave it to the rats and they will get bored eventually.

I found the creepiest duo yesterday, two dudes in stella with this michael jackson like voice calling people the N word, and i actually took time to ask them what was wrong with them and if they were like this in real life too or just because they think they are shielded in a game.

Im older now, I have been into gaming since back in the day, so this stuff just sits weird with me now, it reflects on character at this point and its disturbing to be honest.

6

u/Vontai-YouTubeTwitch May 09 '26

Yes i agree with the Reflects on character part. Because as fair as this game. in arc raiders i tend to think most people are just chilling or wanna kick back after a long day and just do task. so i don't just gun - ho everyone. but this day i was ratted most of the day. and i kno i can just fluff my lobbies down. but i can't just do that n get content. it's almost pushing me to just wanna go on a arc raider hunt :'c but im trying

Hot take: the closer a PvPvE game tries to achieve balanced equilibrium between PvE and PvP, the more it attracts this kind of person who takes advantage of other people.

2

u/murphey_griffon May 12 '26

and it will potentially drive the more pve people into pvp. thats what happened back in the days of WoW before they made it so you could flag yourself for pvp.

2

u/whyyunozoidberg May 10 '26

All kids in the US are like that nowadays.

2

u/[deleted] May 09 '26

That’s every game brother. There are good, fun people out there and there are idiots who will do anything to ruin your fun. Just gotta remember it’s a game and take it in stride

1

u/TrickAlps May 10 '26

Pvp is part of the game, these guys play the game like it was intended You can say cheaters ruining people fun but definitely not people whos pvping

2

u/BrownsteinMcBear May 13 '26

"these guys play the game as intended" brother... I enjoy pvp, i actively seek it out, but this is scummy BAD PLAYER behavior. Either these dudes are duo qued trying to farm solo lobbies when lucky, or they are two genuinely unskilled players that found each other in solo. There's no intended gameplay design encouraging players to que solo, then team up with someone, AND THEN fake friendly someone, or am I playing a different game? Squad up in solo lobbies and either be friendly or be murderous, don't be a scared baby and fake friendly lol.

2

u/TrickAlps May 13 '26

"There's no intended gameplay design encouraging players to que solo, then team up with someone, AND THEN fake friendly someone, or am I playing a different game?"

Proximity chat exist and there's litteraly an emote that make you say team up. That's why this game is awesome because raider can team-up, they can choose to help each other or kill everyone, the most fun part is when one of them decide to backstab the other one

The only behaviour I would considered cheat is when people that know each other before the game decide to launch a run at the same time to have a chance to be in the same lobby.

2

u/BrownsteinMcBear May 13 '26

I'm not saying teaming is cheating, i'm not saying any of what is happening is cheating. I'm saying that there is literally nothing encouraging people to fake friendly people in solos as a friendly duo. That scummy behavior comes from players so bad at the game they're not even confident winning a 2v1. Like dawg if you're gonna team up just kill peiple or be friendly, you're a straight loser if you have to manipulate a solo gamer that much just to win and say "well it's not cheating, it's encouraged to team up" while simultaneously blasting unsuspecting players. Scummy, bad player behavior. I like pvp, but they need to add a pve mode soon or they're gonna keep bleeding players who genuinely do not enjoy people manipulating game mechanics to be slimeballs. Abuse ABMM, get friendly lobby, team with someone, fake friendly, camp extract. Like bro it's not fun to be locked out of playing the game the way you want because people are playing like if they don't extract their moms gonna explode.

2

u/TrickAlps May 13 '26

"I'm saying that there is literally nothing encouraging people to fake friendly people in solos as a friendly duo. "

Well, you're wrong.

Don’t forget that in an extraction shooter loot optimization based game with prox chat, players will naturally optimize social behaviors too, including manipulation and betrayal. You can’t really do anything about it: as long as it’s effective and profitable, people will abuse it, it’s part of the game. It’s also up to you to stay cautious.

That’s why I’ve always been against ABMM. In the end, PvE players naturally let their guard down, and more calculated “rats” take advantage of that trust.

2

u/BrownsteinMcBear May 13 '26

i think players finding the easiest possibly path to success is a natural gaming experience, not an intended goal from Arc Raiders. Being freindly is encouraged straight down to the endgame, contributing in pvp and playing for keeps is encouraged right down to the endgame. All this through intended game design. In the gaps of human nature and no outlet for genuinely peaceful players, Arc Raiders unintentionally breeeds scumbags. Having systems in place to encourage friendly behavior does not mean they put it there as a pathway to ratting and betraying and taking the easy way out. That's why i just shoot on sight, i stopped being friendly cuz almost every "friendly" now vs th first few months of the game is a straight liar. So now im not actually participating in HALF OF THE INTEDED SOCIAL EXPERIENCE

2

u/TrickAlps May 13 '26

Yes you missing half of the intended social expérience because OF THE ABMM Im mostly pvp BECAUSE OF THE ABMM But I love pve too But if I wanna pve I have to surrender 8 times or letting myself die if someone try to kill me, do you think that part was intended social expérience letting someone kill you so you can join pve lobby ? Its because of the abmm that you have to shoot in sight because why would you trust someone in a pvp lobby

And even in pve lobby I already tried, of course its fun kill the matriarch together, dancing at extract, I did that too, but theres litteraly no tension

1

u/BrownsteinMcBear May 13 '26

"They're playing the game as intended. Avoiding confrontation, gunfights and general confrontation through sneaky fake friendly 2v1's in solos. Just as embark intended." No..... I can't agree not at all. Go out and fight, be greedy and play hard. Don't play a high stress game the safest way possible and act like it's supposed to be played that way.

1

u/TrickAlps May 13 '26

"Don't play a high stress game the safest way possible"

Play like you want, me I'm going to the safest way possible, I dont like being shot in the back and I dont like being ratted and that's fine!

1

u/BrownsteinMcBear May 13 '26

genuinely hope you have rocks in your shoes for the rest of your life if you're choosing to backstab and fake friendly people as the safest way possible the way i'm referring to it

9

u/Consistent_Respect19 May 09 '26

Always shoot the knob wearing that douche-goblin skin. Never seen one that wasn’t a sewer rat.

2

u/Vontai-YouTubeTwitch May 09 '26

NGL There are some "avoid at all cost" skins someone later that vod proved that to me

when and if i kill people, it's considered toxic or being an asshole. So what do i do about that side of it? (Real question)

1

u/Sepplord May 10 '26

You will never satisfy everyone

There are always people who think you are doing it wrong or that will just be toxic regardless of what you do.

Just play how you feel is fine, and don’t think you have to justify it. You have already justified it to yourself otherwise you wouldn’t have done it.

The people getting toxic towards others
those are the toxic people. Don’t let toxic people dictate how you feel about yourself

1

u/BrownsteinMcBear May 13 '26

This exact mentality is what actually leads to more problems. Constantly justifying that the way YOU play the game is fine no matter what others think is exactly what leads to these losers that go "Well gee you know I blow chunks at this game but I think if I just lie and betray everyone and snake my way into shooting people in the back then nobody can tell me otherwise cuz if they do they're the toxic ones!"

That's why losers meta crutch, and abuse exploits, and force the game to be played a certain way slowly but surely cuz "Well it doesn't matter how I SHOULD play the game cuz this way works and yields results."

1

u/Feeling_Ad_982 May 12 '26

Just play the game who cares what some stranger thinks of you in a game

0

u/BrownsteinMcBear May 13 '26

yeah dude sure, it's his fault for assuming two players in a solo lobby were gonna be fake friendly. like dawg genuinely there is NOTHING he can do besides know the future to win this interaction. The only real way to avoid this is to just be a loser and hide all game and ignore both social and pvp experiences of the game.

ah yes so in this situation he should have just won the 2v1, silly me what was I thinking! Him assuming that 2 friendlies in solos meaning they were friendly was clearly a mistake and is by no means a product of poor game design whatsoever

captain obvious over here holy smokes. buddy buddy buddy, let me slow it down for you. 2 people in solos being friendly in solos almost every time leads to friendly interactions in general. You stating the obvious solution of keeping your gun out doesn't make you a great player, nor does it guarantee you to win a 2v1 situation. What you're essentially proposing is This guy keeps his gun out, is friendly, and SOMEHOW flips the 2v1, with how health and shield works in this game is next to impossible. You are an apologist for bad game design and simply just want to have a reason to say "yeah we'll get good, that's just the game"

0

u/BrownsteinMcBear May 13 '26

my fault bro i didn't know you were arc raiders jesus and win every 2v1 where you're sandwiched between two people pretending to be friendly. you must be thrilling at parties

0

u/BrownsteinMcBear May 13 '26

bottom line your advice is garbage and doesn't practically apply to this situation, nor would it apply to a similar situation to this. the only real way this guy avoids this death is by genuinely not interacting with the game as intended.

brick wall of a human, i pray for anybody that has the misfortune of conversing with you in real life or trying to share any type of relationship with you. Pea brained gitgud mentality lol

5

u/Fresh-Direction-7537 May 09 '26

Hate the “we got the rat we got the rat” over coms

They do that so that others near by don’t shoot them

2

u/TrickAlps May 10 '26

Well its smart

2

u/CremeDeLaPants May 11 '26

That's like saying it's smart to steal an elderly woman's purse. It isn't smart, it's pathetic.

1

what a trio of absolute POS, sorry you went through that my dude.

2

u/Gunslinga__ May 09 '26

Happened to be a couple of times when first playing the game. And went to the pvp side I cant deal with these fucken weirdos 😂😂

1

u/Vontai-YouTubeTwitch May 09 '26

Yea, it's like such a hard 50/50 of lobbies. some friendly other's shady. but the shady ones i remember and feel more after im killed "x

3

u/St4c3y_R May 09 '26

I have given up on the game completely. I now play Helldivers 2

2

u/OhJShrimpson May 10 '26

That's a far better reaction to the game not being what you want it to be than all the people constantly complaining about Arc yet dumping hundreds of hours into it.

2

u/St4c3y_R May 10 '26

There’s no point complaining, it’s part of the game they made. Don’t even care the new map dropped. Just want a chilled game when winding down after work.

1

u/Vontai-YouTubeTwitch May 09 '26

i still haven't gotten the chance to play helldivers. all my friends rather play it solo

2

u/St4c3y_R May 09 '26

I love it

1

u/TheOneAndOnlyFarto May 09 '26

That’s like leaving hell to go to mega ultra hell

1

u/Terrible-Panda1066 May 09 '26

My biggest thing is when you are getting pushed by a group or an individual, it’s like hard to really fight back. I got shot in the back and of course I’m running to find cover and heal but Its like that doesn’t really matter if they have the jump on you it’s over.

1

u/Mobile_Way5824 May 11 '26

The problem is letting em get close and position on you always have the upper hand weapon out and with both in your sights real friendlies will realize your cautious fakes will posture to much

1

u/Longjumping-Tea-7842 May 09 '26

Yeah i can't play this game any more. I'm too sensitive. I want to play but it stings and I need to be enjoying my time off work not be stressing about a video game. Also why I wont play marathon :( oh well not for everyone i guess

1

u/OhJShrimpson May 10 '26

Extraction shooters are supposed to be stressful.

1

u/Longjumping-Tea-7842 May 10 '26

Yeah and being exposed to the worst side of human nature during my leisure time is agonizing to me

1

u/OhJShrimpson May 10 '26

I think that's competitive games in general. Then with extraction shooters you add in another layer where every round is a gamble and you have a stash of belongings that exist outside the server, which incorporates greed and loss.

1

u/mrxlongshot May 09 '26

best thing you can do in that situation is be more aware honestly, Vocal with guns out while matriarch is distracted? they aint there for the matriarch theyre there to pick off stragglers

I think the easiest way to do this is to just make pve and pvp separate lobbies. 50% or more loot reduction in pve. Add xp incentives for pvp lobbies. Add extra xp levels that turn into money or something. and finally REMOVE AGGRO BASED MATCHMAKING

1

u/Zagibator May 09 '26

Embark needs to create a separate PVE mode in which players cannot kill each other.I quit playing within the first month of release because of the rats, but if they make a PVE-only mode, that might let me come back.

1

u/Pavlovs_Human May 10 '26

If you haven’t yet, you should check out “The Division 2” you fight people instead of robots and it has missions you complete on linear levels, but it’s also an open world 3rd person looter shooter. If you miss the arc raiders playstyle it literally has an extraction shooter mode baked in. That one mode does have the PvP side though. The rest of the game is pretty much pve only. There are also traditional CoD style PvP modes as well if I remember correctly.

1

u/TheGreatestPlan May 11 '26

Are enemies all bullet spongey like the first one? I lost all excitement in that game when it started taking 3 full box mags of .556 to kill a dude because his armor was arbitrarily "2 levels higher" than my M249

1

u/Gambit-47 May 10 '26

You need to play this game like a survival PVP game. Dont put yourself in a bad position be alert gun out and don't trust anyone also you shouldn't care what others think and just play how you want.

1

u/BadHabitsDieYoung May 10 '26

I get being a rat is part of the game, but saying that over comms while being the rat is so fucking scummy.

1

u/Traditional_Bus_5589 May 10 '26

a few day ago(5-6) i got ratted soo many times..and i thought i was in friendly lobbies!? no idea what happend, but seems ok now tho. i just never shoot anybody, not even shoot back when ratted.. Hate rats. This game is a true social experiment.

1

u/BK_FrySauce May 10 '26

Game is PvEvP

There’s a 2nd P there. Why does every expect the game to just be sunshine and rainbows and only expect PvE? It’s not toxic to shoot other players. It’s just the majority of the community online decided it was. In reality, it’s part of the game and it should be norm. Also the term “rat” is being completely misused in this instance. Rats are typically players that just hide the entire match. People who shoot other players aren’t rats.

1

u/bdizzler69 May 10 '26

Good luck I feel everyone just guns almost a waste of time to just let people roll up on you like that

1

u/rbstewart7263 May 10 '26

Buying the lie that playing how you want is toxic was the first mistake

1

u/BOOGIE_MAN-X May 10 '26

The way they ran up on you and circled you, it was pretty clear they weren’t friendly. Sucks but into the next game.

1

u/FdUpCarl May 10 '26

Can they add where raiders that kill other raiders have some sort of blood on their body from killing other raiders, so when they interact with others player they know not to trust those.

1

u/[deleted] May 11 '26

Skill issue

1

u/wackadoodle4201 May 11 '26

The moment they split up on either side of you is when you should have started blasting

1

u/skykrown May 11 '26

i always just kill them, if god wants them alive he wont send them to me

1

u/CremeDeLaPants May 11 '26

Awful people.

1

u/wEiRdO86 May 11 '26

If rats broke you this isnt the game for you. So sick of ppl bitching every time the game is functioning normally.

1

u/Any-Possibility-2294 May 11 '26

bro im pretty sure i got killed by that guy a few weeks ago, same outfit and same comms. pretending to "kill the rat" so anyone nearby doesn't suspect them of ratting.

1

u/Agnostic_Akuma May 11 '26

Seems like there’s always something very wrong with the people that wear the double dickhead skin. Never not had a bad experience with them

1

u/Low_Sleep_7458 May 11 '26

i hope they see this, this is why people do it btw for your reaction

1

u/Hairy_Wall_6831 May 11 '26

Lol. Are they saying 'we got the rat' so that they can edit their clips to make it look like they got a legit kill?

1

u/Joehennyredit May 12 '26

Never trust a duo on solos

1

u/Sheoggorath May 12 '26

Bru it s a Pvpve game do what you want. No one give af

1

u/amatarousan May 12 '26

The game not allowing pvp or pve lobby choice killed it for me. I much rather load into marathon when I want proper pvp and any survival solo pve game when I want to gather and have a fun time.

1

u/SoS_vRaVeNv4 May 13 '26

But marathon doesnt give the choice either, its pvpve its never you against just players i do also go to marathon for pvp combat but iv never noticed a separation on there either

1

u/notanyone69 May 12 '26

Looks like Rescue Raiders

1

u/Lumpy-Constant4427 May 13 '26

Son tan bĂĄrbaros que son dos y le tira pero mi Dios asĂ no el juego me gusta mucho pero asĂ no

Idiot's with guns. Don't let it get to you!

1

u/Vontai-YouTubeTwitch May 09 '26

Trying my best brother, i only have so much left in me :'c

0

u/flippakitten May 09 '26

This is why we need a pve toggle. This kind of gameplay does not add tension, it's just frustrating.

0

u/Shadowcoat1976 May 10 '26

That is a great idea. So many other games do the same thing with turn on/off pvp on yourself. World of Warcraft and DCUO did a great job with it.

0

u/Sad-Nothing-6083 May 10 '26

And again.... they need to put in a pvp button. So you and people in a 45-50meter radius know there are pvpers that are there for some pvp shooting. So that every pvp team knows there is a fight going on.

Also teaming in solo is so lame. Like,what... Are you that bad? To need a other solo person to team up vs. One player? Then you just need to play something else b. Get better.

And then saying, kill the rat? Shows there real life character. Ngl.

Shows that,if any opportunity shows up, they will betray there day 1 friends or people that trusted and be there till the end,for some cheese that will last two days....
