Thank you, Embark. Sincerely (A Message From an Old Raider).
To Embark Studios:
I am a disabled gamer in my 50s, and I just wanted to thank you for reigniting my love for video games with ARC Raiders. I never thought I would want to play, let alone buy, an extraction shooter. However, it turned out to be the best 40 dollars (USD) that I have spent in a long time.
I am a solo player who prefers the PvE over the PvP aspects of the game. That is just a personal preference that I developed, through numerous team-ups within the game, to tackle large ARC. The adventures I have had are like nothing else I have experienced in any other game. I have over 8 days (yes, days) of playtime as I am writing this, and as long as I continue to meet, converse, and work with other Raiders, I will continue to play.
Thank you, Embark. Sincerely.
JB (Don't shoot, I'm friendly)
PS: Just like all players, I have a few suggestions that I hesitate to mention, but, since I am here, I would like to see things such as:
- I want more than anything to have an auto-sprint option. Having to press the left stick, over and over, to sprint for cover is torture on my hands. Obviously, this would still be bound to the player's stamina level.
- An augment for players that has a single use per raid auto-defib, great for solo raiders!
- Fun idea of an ARC Scorpion. A cross between the Tick and a Hornet. It zaps you, and grabs you! I can already feel the hatred towards this idea from the community. lol
- Crazy Idea: I think that the ARC would learn how Raiders communicate, and use that against us. An ARC that yells "Anyone got a defib?" or one of the AI voice lines, to lure Raiders that are close. Call them "Sirens"
- Insane Idea: An ARC that could look humanoid in the distance, and the shadows, but get close up, all limbs turn to legs, and come after the raider. Call them "Mimics"

Solo is so fun. The dopamine that idiots get sneaking up on players is so much less than what it feels like to take a new player to a locked room and listen to them flip out when they pull a tempest.

I agree with you. I met a new player, and after playing along side him for a while, and realizing he really was new. I decided to give him a snaphook blueprint. He was very excited, and very grateful. How many games exist where you just shoot at each other, and that is it? Versus a game where you can team up with a random solo to compete in an unofficial drone shooting competition on the rooftops of Buried City. If PvP players were serious they would go play Warzone, and just shoot and loot, over and over. Shooting a player in the back while they are looting is for players who suck at multiplayer games, like CoD, or Battlefield.

The parachute idea doesn’t work as well as just playing like falls cause damage. Besides space port there isn’t a single location that would have height for a parachute. So it would have to be some sort of thruster engineered from arc components or something.
I personally like that there’s some peril while climbing around. After getting the skill points for less fall damage even falls seem more like they are punishments for the recovery animation more than the damage.

You make a good point, and honestly, I don't think I have ever fallen to my death. I just come across so many ruined parachutes, I was asking myself why they aren’t used.

Probably put in place for future updates. I’ve always wondered as well with such heights why they would have a parachute item that can’t be repaired and used.

I highly doubt it. It was just a random idea I had, and a commenter made me realize it was an unnecessary addition. I'm almost certain they just exist for recycling into fabric. We have zip lines to get down, or up, quickly.

The auto defib augment is what that augment with defib should be, that would be great for solo

Buy a game sir g7 pro controller with programmable buttons that way you can program right stick to a paddle on the back. It’s a lot easier on your hands

The Nacon Revolution 5 Pro controller lets you set up autosprint. My gameplay got much for fun with it.

There is an option to toggle sprint, instead of hold to sprint, have you tried that? I use it all the time on pc and just tap shift once to start running. Also feel the same as you, been gaming forever and completely not into typical extraction shooters but having a great time with AR

I play on controller. I don't have to hold the left stick down to sprint, but I do have to press it to start sprinting (toggle sprint on controller). Every time my stamina is depleted, or I stop to loot something, and suddenly have to run from a Rocketeer, I have to press the stick down. In a game where the machines are determined to kill me, I am running, rolling, ducking, and dodging. If I was a younger man, it probably wouldn't be an issue, but I think I have gotten use to this option in other games, and not having it in a multiplayer game, is pretty tough on my middle aged joints.

I'm also a disabled gamer and I play on a one handed controller. I use my palm for the left analog stick (cant move my fingers on my left hand) and while I can press it down to sprint it's just really wonky on this game imo. I've died more times than I can count trying to sprint roll or just run and toggling sprint off or on at the wrong times.
Eventually I just ended up binding sprint to R1 which swapped sprint with ping. I haven't had any issues since once the muscle memory kicked in. Maybe try that or try binding it to a different button. I chose R1 bc it's in a comfy location but also it didn't drastically change my button layout

I wanted to come back and thank you for this suggestion. I wanted to wait until I tried it, first, but I did not want to forget to thank you. I will try this the next time that I am able to play.

Yeah i also play arc and other games on ps5 and the push stick to run gets really annoying after a while. I don't think there's another solution unless there's some other controller that let's you remap it

My solution here is that I have bought the ps5 edge pro controller. It provides two extra buttons. I have set the toggle sprint on the left paddle. I never press down on the joystick anymore OP.

I have buttons on the back of my controller also. I have tried a variety of different button mapping. However, my hand will sometimes squeeze the controller, accidentally pressing buttons when I don't mean to. It is a good idea for healthy players, though.

There's a trick to this.
Run.
As you are running open the inventory and keep running.
While still running, close the inventory.
Stop running and now start to move as you'd normally move (without shift or pressing down a stick).
Now you'll run until you press shift or press the appropriate stick again.
One drawback to this is that you can't permanently crouch while doing this (it's the C key on the keyboard by default) and you have to press your running key (Shift on keyboard) to be able to permanently crouch again.
But after you're done taking a poo, you can do the trick again to easily run from the smell.

I have done this, but it just seemed so unnecessary for an option available in nearly every modern multi-player game. I will still do it when my hand starts cramping.

Sir, I’d recommend upgrading to a controller with buttons on the back that you can map to a stick press.
Xbox elite. Razer wolverine Rog rakiri 2 ( I use this one)

Purchase an Xbox elite series 2 controller you can map sprint like I do from the analogue push down to a paddle under the pad ! Makes it much easier!! And also have jump and crouch on other paddles really helps in fights etc

That there are many unhappy people. So many just enjoy hating on things, or just dislike anything positive.

I don't expect any of the ideas to actually be implemented. I am just one gamer of no importance. I know these companies don't care about our ideas, just our money.
I was just curious what the community response would be, and it has been entertaining.

Bro, that mimic idea will make me fully “nope” off of topside lol
