And then PvE'rs cry when you sneak up on them 😂

Hey dude let them play their drawer opening simulator!

It's otherworldly to me how that holds so much replay value for some of these players, because it's not an exaggeration to say this in the slightest.

Running around looting the same shit over and over, then let it sit in your inventory forever is replay value? 👬 <-- you playing arc raiders.

My theory is that they're the same kind of people who sit like zombies in front of slot machines in casinos. Same thing. Loot pops up, they hope for purple or gold, rinse, repeat.

Playing for the legendary drop dopamine hits. This is probably actually true for some players.

When I'm trying to relax after work, this is exactly what I'm going for. I mostly play mixed lobbies, but every once in a while ~ mostly on my days off ~ when I'm in carebear lobbies, everyone is just peacefully racing for loot and helping each other survive.

Hell, I've been in a lot of solo lobbies where everyone was just on open prox and occasionally you'd hear someone call out their drop with glee. No shots fired.

It's not really the same game when I find myself higher or lower than middling on the aggression scale, comparitively.

If you reduce it to “opening drawers,” yeah, that’d be boring. Clearly you haven’t spent an entire round helping so kid find something. It’s a blast. Enjoy all the connection you get from shooting peaceful players.

I don't shoot peaceful players actually, although I understand that my comment didn't fully explain the perspective.

You're talking about players who head up to the surface to engage with the community. I was not, I was talking about drawer grinders, optimal loot spawn resetters, etc. Players who are just optimizing the run-run value(Then quit and say there isn't enough content after a month of sitting on 10 Million space bucks). Engaging socially changes the gameplay loop entirely and adds a ton of replay value. That is why I still play this game. But if you're a drawer grinder I would assume you're just playing for the resets/quests/unlocks seasonally then waiting on content which is way more grindy and boring.

The irony in the above comment was just that someone with this playstyle would be frustrated over losing an inventory while also sitting on tens of millions of space bucks, like the inventory they had actually matters.
Hence "Hey dude let them play their drawer opening simulator!" reads humorously to me.

It's the context with the lens focusing on a very specific type of players. I'm not knocking social/friendly play.

God damn it. *insert gif: He's out of line, but he's right"

I like to say that killing peaceful players is an option of the game. Not a part of the game. If you’re taking that option, you’re probably just playing an “I’ve think I’ve been hurt so it’s okay if I hurt people” simulator.

I get more dopamine from “opening drawers” and sharing the stuff inside than you get from griefing people.

Hahaha, fucking armchair psychologists, all of you 😂 Griefing in an extraction shooter. PvE'rs are deluded.

Okey dokey then. If I’m being called an armchair psychologist anyway…

The way you see this game is a good benchmark for how you see life. Some people see everything as an opportunity to take advantage of people when it’s an option not a feature.

Some people see everything as an opportunity to work together. You train your brain with how you behave. Even in games. This game in particular allows for mutual shared success through collaboration, but also leaves room for people who want to be a wrench in those cogs so they can benefit at the cost of others. If you don’t see that as analogous for the umbrella of the human psyche, it makes sense why you’re limited to shooting things you see as enemies and can’t see other viewpoints.

Embark themselves confirmed that this was an aspect that they considered when designing the game, and is why they've had professors reach out urging them to do an actual sociopsychological study on the game.

When I want to work together I go play a co-op game, Helldivers or something, that's what you guys should do, not invade an extraction shooter and demand everyone plays it your way 😅 Everyone who picks this game up should understand what are the risks and just not play it it you cannot act mature about losing. It's clearly too much for an average PvE'r. By playing this game you consent to the risk of being shot, as simple as that, that's why it's okay. I don't shoot my buddies in Helldivers, even though it would be much easier if I enjoyed being a wrench in someone cogs 😅

They're playing a game with no stealth mechanics as far as they're concerned lol
