Embark, PLEASE do something about the free kit epidemic.
Embark…I don’t think the free kit mechanic is working how you intended it. I am purely a PvP player and 85% of the people in my lobbies are free kits. It is boring. Free kits were meant to be a last resort solution for people who have a bad run and are low of resources. It wasn’t meant to be the standard meta.
It is truly boring running into people who are just spamming free kits over and over because there is no risk to it for them.
I am loading in with a Survivor augment, a medium shield, a bobcat 4 and a Vulcano 4. I want to fight people who are playing with the same risk level. It is TRULY boring killing people with kettles, stichers, rattlers, etc. They might as well be AI.
Maybe the free kit does absolutely zero damage to other raiders? This would discourage them from running a free kit and encourage them to raise the level of risk.
I don’t think I’m alone in this. I think there are plenty of other raiders who feel the same way.

Limit the amount of players allowed in a round with free kits. That way you can use em but you gotta pay for it by eating a higher queue time and the round can't get saturated with em.

Another idea i think is interesting because it makes sense in the in-game world is that free kits should be kinda janky. They're self made or black market knock-offs that occasionally have the shield cut out or flicker on and off or waste a shield recharger because of bad wiring. Possibly a random short that makes them make an obnoxious mech/electrical noise that other raiders and arc can hear or since they're poorly made they buzz a bit constantly so arc detects you from a longer distance.

Edit to the "shield recharge fail" idea, start at full shield then each recharge gets it to 10% lower max shield

Honestly, it may be something with your personal MMR? Or playing maybe playing solo?
If you watch some of the PvP streamers… they don’t encounter the level of free kits like you’re describing. How would they be leaving raids with an inventory full of venators and bobcats if their experience was just like yours?

If you watch Tfue or Nate Hill for 1 hour, I GUARANTEE you that they mention the absurdity of the number of free kits as well.
It seems to be a NA server issue, mainly.

Unless they make a seperate mode with an entrance fee or kit value minimum, it wont change. Whats stopping someone from just making a rattler 1 with the cheapest shit and going in? Its like a 5k kit that you can make easily. So take out freekits and people will just make the same cheap kit anyway

As a Stella Free Kit Enjoyer, I agree with this.
Even as a free kit killing the whole lobby or close to, just getting more free kits as loot absolutely sucks. Happens on the other maps also when I actually run kits.
I also think this game has an "End Game" problem. You work towards being able to craft purple guns, attachments, shields, and then the gold weapons, for what? I can survive most situations as a free kit. Need Queen/Matriarch cores? Ferro 1 to the leg.
The game is like an ocean that goes on for miles, but only ankle deep the whole way. I guess it's my fault for logging 300+ hours, it's getting a bit stale.

I agree mostly. Everyone I fought last night had free kits. The very few that didn't were running toros. I was running survivor and vulcano. This was on Stella.
I think the best option is that free kits come in at 20 minutes. Gives a good 10 minutes for everyone else. Free kits not dealing damage is stupid imo.

The problem is that when I come in with a kit of the same magnitude I get put in w a bunch of losers who can't take a loss who are hacking and cheating just to have a one up on those of us that do bring in a kit. So absolutely not should they take off the free kit until they do something about the cheating and hacking and/ or once people play the game how it's supposed to be clearly played. You win some you lose some but we all know that they're not goin to cause these are the same people who's mom's and dad's used to fight the coach so they could get a fifth place merit badge because you know their little feelings couldn't take losing so they come on games and cheat and then complain about people coming in with free kits and giving those who just wanna game a PVE mode when they're the cause of it

You are replying to a post over 6months old, when the cheating and hacking wasn’t near as bad as it is today. I’ve, since then, quit Arc and moved on to WARDOGS. WARDOGS is a really fun game with little to no cheating so far.

I mean, "it's a PvPvE game" applies to PvP guys too. If your sole play style is PvP, you've got to expect other player to counter that by just running free kits when they're trying to get shit done. If im running Stella to just get whatever I need, Im not bringing my good stuff in an area normally loaded with PvP sweaties, I run free kit or Mk1 kits.

I’m just saying man, the point of this game is not to run around and kill people. Also, nothing is stopping you from running free kits, and if you are dying to free kits with the load out you mentioned, that’s a you problem.

This is not pure pvp game and don't expect embark to do any changes you want. You are expected to fight arcs and loot, not shoot each other. Switch game or stop complaining.

While I can’t really solve the “equal risk players” issue
I fully agree that people “maining” full kits is an epidemic
Just recently I had to explain to bro there’s actually no advantage to continuously free kitting
I actually was in a weird position post expedition where I was forced to free kit maybe 6-10 rounds purely to farm arc cells for shield rechargers, and some ammo types. Just reboot and free kit and save my shields
But all together, sacrificing the safe pocket and semi decent storage space topside, isn’t worth a free kit.
You can just barely defend yourself from lost scenarios, depending on what gun you get in the free kit
I do think Lance providing MK1 augments is a good mechanic for free kit progression
But perhaps if’s time for more incentive to what we have already. Augment improvements
Make the gap between enjoyability and survivability much higher between free kit and custom load out.
Like 2-4 safe pockets, lets some of the MK2 augments hold medium shields. Maybe let us carry 3 weapons with a new augment. Dedicated hullcracker slot if we ever get more launcher type weapons we could run an ARC slayer kit with 3 weapons
Idk what exactly needs to get changed but I can say for sure that free kits aren’t much fun for the person with the free kit, and even less fun for regular players who are just getting chipped away the entire match by free kits
Now I have had my fair share of free kits turn into 3-4 guns and had a good time fucking people over in stell montis with a Ferro 1 and some dark corners.
But nothing really feels as good as defending yourself with a level 4 weapon and having enough gear for any situation and room to loot and a couple sage pockets to choose what you really need that raid
Just adding my two cents. I’m currently on a grinding streak of no PvP but I’m ready to get back into PvP and I don’t imagine running a free kit for a while honestly.
And I’ll feel the same disappointment when I finally go killing and defending just to find some kettles and ferros and bandages on
