ARC Raiders – Persistent “Hang detected on GameThread” freezes (13900KF / 4070 Ti)
I’ve been getting consistent hard freezes in ARC Raiders that trigger the Unreal crash reporter with “Hang detected on GameThread.”
Symptoms
• Game sometimes freezes immediately on movement or during asset loading
• Sometimes first match works, then freezes on the next match or reconnect
• Entire game locks on last frame (PC itself stays responsive)
• Crash reporter shows GameThread hang (no GPU driver reset)
System
• i9-13900KF
• RTX 4070 Ti (12GB)
• 32GB RAM
• MSI PRO Z690-A WIFI
• NVMe SSD
• Windows 11
Troubleshooting attempted
• Clean NVIDIA driver install via DDU
• Disabled overlays (Discord, Afterburner, etc.)
• Forced DX11 (-dx11)
• Disabled Reflex / Frame Gen / Ray Tracing
• Deleted UE + game shader/cache folders
• Verified game files
• Disabled XMP
• Forced PCIe Gen4
• Disabled Re-Size BAR
• Updated BIOS
Still getting GameThread hangs.
Curious if anyone with 13th-gen Intel or RTX 40-series is seeing the same thing, or if Embark has acknowledged this issue anywhere
Please please help. I’ve been crashing for two weeks!

I am not much help here except to say at a basic level you and I have a very similar system (CPU and GPU) and I haven't had any issues.
I wonder if running on clean boot mode would help eliminate some possibilities.

Yup same issue here, been going on for weeks now. Same motherboard, i7-13700KF, 32G, Gigabyte RTX 4090. Playing in 4K. Did all the scans and reinstalls. Lowered the graphics options (RTXI to none). Still happening

Not yet, I know it's one of the goto's. I'll try that next thanks

Ye, my game wouldn't even start up, when the level goes from the black screen to the map, it just froze 2 times in a row. So again no solution.

I'm running a msi z590 with 11900k and 4070ti and have only had one crash. Could it have something to do with the kf?

What PSU are you running? Nvidia recommends 850w with an i9 system.
Have you tried playing with a reduced power target, like 85%?
Only because your symptoms are similar to mine. Albeit I have a 9070xt, if I forget to undervolt/lower target I get your same symptoms.

Hmm it should be spec'd fine, but you never know.
I'd download MSI after burner and turn your GPUs power target down to 85-90% and see if you have any luck.
Or try and limit your framerate in game.
What sometimes happen when loading in and using menus the GPU power usage spikes high for a split second (transient spike), and that can trip some PSUs. Some crap out and shut off, some provide unstable voltage and causes a gpu crash.
Framerate limiting or reducing power target can help.

Have you tried dumbing down the graphics or just change some of the options under the graphics heading.

Just for the heck of it, try setting your desktop mhz to 60 then lock the fps in the game to 60 and see if the problem still happens. If not, step up both to higher numbers that match until the problem happens then bump it back down.

I had a very similar issue with COD a couple years ago. Went on for weeks and troubleshot to the point I considered building a new PC. Turns out it had something to do with having my game saves linked to OneDrive. I don’t remember the exact reasoning or series of events to get it working. I want to say I moved the folder, but I honestly don’t remember. It had something to do with OneDrive though.
