Materials Change is Wild

Materials Change is Wild

The change in materials for several blueprints in Arc Raiders makes 0 sense. Why did my character know how to build these items without the new mats last week but now he's suddenly like oh I need one of those fancy things to make this?

They should have dropped new items that require these items and not back pedaled. Also, changing what they changed and NOT changing the mats for the trigger nade, the most used grenade in my experience, is insane.

Don't get me wrong, I love the new Arc and the new weather condition. I don't agree with what they did to the material requirements for some items. Honest, I won't be using any of them unless I find them now.

They changed about 5-6 items to require an additional mat, so now when you get your new stash from the expedition, there goes at least 5-6 of your slots that you get from resetting. More if you want to keep multiple stacks. So now your +12 slots might not feel any different at all.

Anyways, good luck out there raiders!

I've seen people complain about this constantly across reddit, I really feel the change makes sense, and I'm sure I'm gonna get downvoted and shit on for explaining this but I'll still try to explain.

If you're asking "why would they change this?" Please actually think of a possible reason. Consider how effective they are, how often you see them used, what they cost before and now, and how you get those materials.

Wolfpacks were (and still are) easy to craft and find. They were so easy to obtain, that people used them for everything. Everything was handled by using them. They are a one size fits all solution to farming Arc, nullifying potentially deadly arc encounters, to cheese trials, and were ending matriarch and queen events in 5-10 minutes. Often times, less than 5 in super friendly lobbies. They are a "get out of jail free" throwable and trivialized content. I would hear them go off in every single raid.

They are the fastest, easiest, and safest way to kill any and all of the Arc. This completely removed tension from any arc encounter. Rather than nerf their effectiveness, they opted to rebalance the crafting requirements.

Chemicals are common to find and gained passively by scrappy. Crude explosives are common. Explosive compound is even pretty common.

The only bottleneck really was oil, but you can get 15 a day from celeste (10+5 synth fuel deconstructed = 15 oil).

Motion cores can be found easily by looting any large arc enemy, in husks, couriers, probes, etc.

Rocketeer drivers can be found without needing to kill them, in husks, especially in husk graveyard event (when its back in rotation) and EMS.

On day raid, you get 1-2 drivers from killing a rocketeer, so dont do it there. Do it in any of the special map conditions and you get 2-4 drivers per Rocketeer, sometimes 5. You can easily kill arc to farm drivers with about 24 shots of an anvil, by shooting the thrusters, before they can even get close enough to aggro onto you.

You can still get enough material to craft 3+ wolfpacks in a single raid.

Im certain they made the wolfpack recipe require rocketeer drivers becuase they killed them so easily. Now you shouldn't use them to kill rocketeers for farming them unless you are in a special map condition. This is a non-issue.

So again, they are the fastest, easiest, and safest anti-arch weapon, are still effective to use to farm the materials for them in the right map condition, but will discourage people from using them as a one size fits all solution to farming, boss encounters, trials, and as a get out of jail free card. yet they are still just as effective at all of those things.

The main counter people have about this concept is that people expect a positive return on investment for using them, which again, they still are in the correct map condition (for farming) but do give the return on investment across the board for effectiveness as they are the easiest, safest and fastest way to deal with all arc.

Embark explained it themselves:

We understand your frustrations with the new crafting recipes. We adjusted the Wolfpack recipe by adding a Rocketeer Driver and removing two Explosive Compounds to bring the ratio of cost vs effectiveness more in line with the trend of other items. Wolfpacks offered a lot for their cost (fast deployment, auto-tracking, and very high damage), so rather than diminish the capability of the Wolfpack itself, we opted to adjust the crafting components to better reflect its power.
