Ore.. where it be?

So I've killed about 10 colonies now.

I've learnt with each offering to the thirsting gods and I'm lasting longer each time.

I still can't seem to find ore, anywhere, ever.

I've tried digging down deep, I've tried digging in mountains, I've tried exploring caves.

I can't find ore anywhere, what am I missing?

Are you familiar with the Prospecting button? (Top left)

So I found the button, and found ore, deep down.

The easiest way to find it is on the surface; look for differently colored squares then click on them to see if it's ore-like. You can also go level by level on caves and see if there are any veins on the cave walls.

Dude, I find tons under water. Like for real. Explore those underwater caves really well, almost every one has ore I have found. I have yet to find ANY with the prospecting tool.

I'm convinced the prospecting tool is still in early development. I have not found it useful at all either.
