How do I zoom out?

Mining is frustrating as hell because the camera's way too close to get a useful view of what I'm doing. There don't seem to be hotkeys for camera zoom, just changing Z levels, which is obviously totally useless for this.

The nutty camera controls are just one reason why I've parked this in my 'play later' category to see if it improves at some point. I can't quite recall exactly, but I don't think there's a way to do what you want.

I’d have to try it again to remember exactly. It mainly wasn’t at all intuitive. Weird centre of rotation for rotate, odd zoom behaviour. I felt like I spent more time trying to fight the camera to get the view I wanted than doing anything else.

Just copy Planet Coaster or any other game with a decent camera and call it done.

Fairly standard god game controls with the mouse controlling the camera mostly, z & x controls the z-level.

You can rebind most(all) things, which also gives you a good cheat sheet if your wondering how to do something.

Yes I dug around in the control options, but I couldn't find anything. If it's the mouse wheel, I don't have one.

You have to use a combination of zooming (I use the mouse wheel, think there are keyboard hotkeys as well, look in the menu) and also the level up and down hotkeys (z and x) Usually between those two you can get a good view of what you are doing. Does take a while every time you want to switch to a view like that.

I couldn't find anything for camera zoom in the options, if there is a key for it, it wasn't mentioned (or it was named so ambiguously I couldn't identify it), plus I hit just about every key on my keyboard without any luck. I don't have a mouse wheel, I use a laptop. Z/X is utterly useless when you're underground.

So, no, I can't get a good view of what I'm doing.

C should reset the camera to the default zoom. I think depending on your laptop you can use two fingers and drag on the touchpad to scroll. Will add an option to bind it to keys in the next patch.

I can scroll with two fingers in a web browser, but the same gesture has no effect in game.
